Your personal opinion.... What's everyone's opinion on Doggie Daycare? I'm thinking about taking my bigger dog, Loki. He's Golden/Rott. I think he'll enjoy it since we live in an apartment and he doesn't get much outside time. |
We don't have any around here, but I have read nothing but good things about them and that it does give them a chance to have fun, get exercise, and socialize.:) |
I think they can be great. I took my two to the local doggy daycare and they weren't huge fans. A lot of people around here rave about it though... So I would definitely look into it! |
I think I'm too much of an over-protective parent cos I'm not a fan of dropping my dog off somewhere to play and then leaving her. I like taking her to our local dog park so she can play and interact with other dogs, but I want to be there just incase anything goes wrong or anyone gets snippy. |

I think they can be really awesome. Especially if you have an apartment or don't want to leave them alone. If you decided to take your yorkie make sure they do a test to check all dogs personality's and stuff out as well as keep the big dogs separated from the small dogs. |

I think it depends on the daycare. We have 3 close to us, and I have had a tour of 2 of them. The first was not good. They didn't do any type of play test, didn't seperate dogs by size, and the "daycare" was dropping your dog off to play for 30 minutes 2 times a day, and the rest of the time they were in these awful cages. NO way. The other daycare I loved. They do play testing, seperate dogs by size and playstyle, have trainers on staff, and have cams. I took Chase there for 2 days while Calvin was being neutered so he could play and come home tired and I could keep Calvin calm. He had a blast, and I got report cards each day :) I got nothing done while he was gone though.....I was glued to my computer watching him play :D |

We have a locally run doggy daycare and spa where I live and it is fabulous! KS loves it there! |
We have an awesome doggie daycare, and if I had a larger, healthier dog I'd take them there, actually we put my mom's beagle in day care when she came up last week, it went well. My only reason for not sending Harley is his allergies, he can't even eat a morsel of chicken or he gets very sick, and he's highly reactive, so the constant barking would set back all the $$ in training. If I had a normal dog I'd definitely consider it. |
I think it is a great idea! I don’t really go to dog parks bc you can’t really control who goes there- With a day care you can since most do not allow un neutered and un spayed dogs to go along with they have to be current on vaccines. Peanut loves his day care- She runs it out of her house, she has about 1 acre of land all gated. She has the big dog separate from the small, the smaller dogs have access to go inside the house. She even has cams set up so I can check on him!! I just love Peanut’s daycare! She also has a big pool set up and little pools in the summer for the little dogs. I think if you find a good one then by all means take your dog there- Peanut always comes home so beat- he will eat and then sleep for the rest of the night! |
As long as you have the webcam ability to check on your dog 100% of the time during the day, and the facility has been checked out by you with patrons who have no vested interest(plus every other way you can check on them), they keep dogs separated by size & temperament and they have a good plan for potential emergencies with your dog, I would consider it for a non-toy dog. |
I think that like everything else in life, It depends on who's hands it's in. But My friend put her yorkie (RIP Pixie) in a day care and she loved it.. I havent tried it, but I would if I had to |
