| I'm always terrified that could happen; luckily there is usually someone here most of the time. But with this bad economy and everyone thinking that they might make a lot of money if they steal and sell your yorkie . . . scary.

| Seems I did not get the complete story. Her sunny was in front of the house(not taken from inside), next thing they realized was a car was seen leaving and her dog was missing. After passing out pictures and hand outs someone saw a dog that matched the description just a few blocks away, when he called sunny, the dog (who was in a fenced in area) came running. The fellow called the Police. The People who had the dog claimed they found him. Police had them return sunny to his owner. So it does pay to canvas the area and have pictures and handouts. Welcome hone Sunny. |

| Could be the dog was let out and someone did find it. It's awful how people just think they can keep a dog if they find one. I suppose a cute little Yorkie running up to your property seems like quite a prize to some dishonest people. I'm so happy she got her baby back! |

A couple days ago my daughters and I were driving around our neighborhood when one of them saw a large, white dog on the sidewalk. The poor thing was trying to get over the 6 foot fence to get back in his yard. By the time she mentioned it to me I had already driven 3 blocks. Without thinking I made a U turn and headed back towards the dog -- mind you, I had no idea what the devil I was going to do -- he had jumped over the fence and was on the porch. Whether or not he belonged at the house we have no idea. This is one reason pets should not be left outside alone, even in a fenced yard.

...and I might be thought of as some sort a 'hero' for my actions. ![]() ![]() ![]() I would likely take the animal to a safe 'holding' place, then return immediately and knock on the door where found and ask if they knew of anyone who'd lost a pet recently without being specific, and if they said THEY had, collect the dog's information, their contact information, etc., and then, if the dog responded to the name, etc. I would return their pet if it also responded to THEM. So, my question there for the ones that found the Yorkie in someone else's front yard would be 'why didn't they return to that house and inquire' or at least inquire at other homes in the neighborhood if anyone had lost a "pet" recently and since they apparently (if I understand correctly) did NOT, that would be where MY suspicion that there was no intent to return the Yorkie (or that it may have been a deliberate theft) would start, especially if there were no "found lost pet...call ###-#### for more information" posters or local ads, etc. put up. But, again...that's just me and how I am. My first thoughts would be for the safety of the animal, then its return to the PROPER owner. ![]() I am glad to hear they got their Yorkie back...regardless of the cause of it going missing.

| How sad One place that should be safe to leave your pup is your home... I am so paranoid about this... We have a security system and cameras all over to prevent this from happening. We were broken into over Christmas while we were out of town. Thankfully the pups were with us, but I cannot imagine what would have happened if they had been there Our cats were there, but thankfully cats are not something people usually steal around here. When the police arrived, my cat was rubbing up against them... lol. I don't know what I would do if someone stole any of my babies! And a side note, it is important to NEVER leave your dogs unattended in the car. Whenever mine go with me on errands, they go into their Kwigy Bo and into the store with me... It's not worth the risk to leave them in the car.
