| ![]() I was able to get in touch with my cousin who is a vet tech, I named her the med's that were on the sheet they sent home with me and I guess he was given 2 pain shot injections and she said the one last for 24hrs. I agree, they should have kept him longer than they did it would have saved me from stressing and worrying about my baby. He keeps moving around on the bed to get comfortable so hopefully we sleep well tonight lol Thanks again everyone, I'm praying for him to feel better tomorrow!

So they Did give you pain meds? You should definitely be giving them to him if he is whining and was shaking. Glad he is doing a little better.... ![]() Keep us posted.

He slept with me for a week until he peed on my bed lol. Then I said to him 'OK, I think it's time for you to go back to your crate now.'. This was day 5 and he was as good as new by then AND the crate is next to my bed. I think it was mommy's fault as she didn't check to see if he needed to pee pee before he got on the bed; he can't get down on his own as my bed is very high.

| ![]() Sounds like they sent him home too soon. Bailey was there at 8am and they wouldn't let us come get him till after 4pm. He should be better in a day or so. Just be there for him. Good luck. |

| ![]() I LOVE my vet and the associate vets in her clinic. They do not tolerate dogs in pain! That is a no-no! When they send any of my babies home following surgery, they call about every 4 hours to see how the dog is doing. Of course, they give that pain shot after surgery, but they also send home pain med and they watch the dosing effectiveness closely, to be absolutely certain it is working and the baby is NOT in any pain. I love them for that...... |

| ![]() Well, we were up for an hr or so I found him just standing up I felt so bad. He is still going potty but I had to put water into a syringe in order to keep him hydrated. I slipped his pain pill in his treat so I hope it kicks in soon because he's shaking again. We are orig from va beach where he sees banfield pet hosp, they are amazing. I moved to pa since my husband just deployed and there was no banfield around nearest is Maryland. I'm now wishing I would have taken him there at least they call to check on him and are great with pain mgt. right now he's wrapped in his blanket in my arm sleeping, he's being treated like a baby lol he has ate this morning so we are making progress ![]()

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() After Lexi was spayed and started shaking they discovered she had picked up a virus (I had to use a different vet for the spay). Took her back in and they put her on antibiotics. Cleared it up for us. Maybe he picked something up at the vets. Might be worth asking. Hope he feels better very soon

| ![]() My little guy was neutered on the 5th and just had his stitches removed on the 16th. His surgery was in the morning and the doctor called late morning to let me know he did really well and it was all routine. She said I could call at night to see how he is doing if I want, but no news is good news. I did call later and they said he was doing fine and pawing at his cage whenever anyone walked by to let them know he was there. I called in the morning and he was all ready to be picked up and was very excited to see me. They sent him home with pain pills (1/8 of a tablet for the little puppy), and I did give them for a few days. He did very well. I'm glad the vet's policy is to keep the dogs overnight for observation, because I wouldn't have known what to expect. They did tell me that the anesthesia would be in him all day. (They give a mixture of drugs to begin the sedation process and then Propothol during the procedure. The mixture of drugs would stay in his system all day they told me.) Maybe your puppies reaction is normal, since he probably still had anesthesia in him. I would have been so nervous and upset to see him this way. I'm so glad to hear that he is feeling better now. |

| ![]() If he has no fever, I am still thinking it is a pain issue....how is his pain med ordered? If it is ordered "three times a day, as needed...", count on him needing it and just go ahead and divide up the 24 hours into 3...that will be every eight hours he gets a pain pill.....if going 8 hours between the pain med is too long, and after 4 hours he wakes up shaking and crying, you need to call his vet and tell him the pain med is not helping at the current dosing and ask how often you can give it, 4-5-6 times a day??...which would be every 4,5, or 6 hours/24 hour period. |

| ![]() I'm going to share, but it is not my intention to scare you. My yorkie had the same symptoms. I thought it was pain, and gave him a pain pill. it got worse!!!! He was crying, shaking, wouldn't sit still, and on and on. Turns out, my baby is in the small percentage of pups that do not tolerate pain meds well. I stopped giving hem to him and he got better. Same thing happened when he had his dental a few months ago. They gave him something mild for the discomfort, and he was nuts all night. Neither of us slept. As soon as it wore off, I had my happy go lucky pup back. That's 2 different situations, 2 years apart, same reaction. Kaji just doesn't do well with pain medication. ![]()

| ![]() This is really concerning to me as males usually have such an easier time of it than the females do. Maybe he had more blood loss than usual? Is he cold? Some Yorkies do tend to get cold easier than other dogs. It could be with the surgery and trying to readjust to the changes that his body temp is not regulating as it should. I have also noticed that some vets are still using non absorbing stitches! I haven't had an animal that needed stitches removed in years. Our vets use stitches that absorb into the body and do not need to be removed. Since they are placed more interior than regular stitches the animal is less able to chew at them. |
