YorkieTalk Newbie! | hello :) new to yorkietalk hi everyone! i just have to say that i absolutely LOVE this website. i am the proud owner of a little (or not so little right now lol) 12 lb yorkie that i saved from abuse and neglect and she has become my second daughter. we (my husband and I) named her phoebe but have taken to calling her phoebe fox face, as she has an adorable little foxy face she is rambunctious, gives tons of kisses, and loves to cuddle. she is pregnant and due any day now, i'm just hoping everything goes ok. she tied with my jack russel mutt, he isn't full russell he has softer hair and is a little more muscular than a russell. and now i am hoping and praying she makes it through delivery. if she winds up having trouble i am immediately taking her to the vet for a c-section!!! i was wondering if all labor signs are the same for yorkies? she has had a temp of about 100.2-100.0 but it keeps fluctuating, and her little belly has been hard all day now. she won't eat much and drinks tons of water. she had loose stool the day before yesterday and some vomiting. are there any other things i should look out for? she hasn't started nesting yet, that i know of. though she is scratching at her puppy pillow every now and then. anyway any help would be very appreciated!!! i look forward to getting to know you fellow yorkie lovers!! also i will post pictures within this week, my camera has unfortunately run out of battery but i am getting more tomorrow!! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Welcome to Yorkietalk, we have a breeding section. Breeder Talk - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community. I hope you consider spaying your girl after she has her pups. There are so many dogs in rescues and shelters, the only reason to breed is to preserve and improve the breed. I really wish you good luck and hope your little girl makes it. This article might be helpful. Canine Reproduction Video and Book on Breeding and Whelping dogs by Debbie Jensen for dog breeders and Whelping Supplies needed to deliver puppies.

| Her belly should only be hard when she is having a contraction. Is she acting nervous? Pacing? Any discharge? Do you have an accurate due date? |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | uhm she has a clear discharge yes, she was pacing for a little bit but stopped, now she is just curled up in my lap sleeping. she also cries under her breath a lot in the mornings. but i called out vet and instead of the 1,200 the other people were trying to rip me off for, he said the most they have ever charged for a c-section is 700 and that was only because it was a difficult one. so within this week or next i am going to take her in. she hasn't been nesting or anything but i am going to take her anyway. if anything just to have her checked out and make sure she is really doing ok. |

| It sounds like your little girl could be in trouble. I'd get her to the vet. Waiting could cost her life. A female will not always "nest." Contractions should have a definite beginning and end. Discharge means that labor has begun. When an active labor does not start within a few hours of the appearance of discharge she could be in big trouble. She will not begin to push until the pup is in the birth canal. If the canal is blocked she can't push. |

Please phoebefoxface, do not wait. Is this your usual vet who charges $700.00. That's a very low cost, I do not think the other vets were ripping you off. I don't think I'd select a vet based upon who's the cheapest. Please, I don't think you realize you could lose her.
