| Eye Gunk Does Anybody Else's Yorkie Get Constant eye Boogers? I wash Brutus at least every 2 weeks sometimes more and in between I am constantly brushing his face and puling out eye boogers. I have another puppy who is a Pomeranian and she doesnt have as long of hair around the eyes and doesnt seems to have any issues with this. I also have 2 yorkie mixes at my moms and I've never had as many. Wondering what the heck causes it and any suggestions?

| Many things can cause them allergies, hair, or there food. Callie has a little bit normally every night so I give them a little dab with a tissue and we are good to go.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Sometimes, it can be worse bc of the food they're eating...so that might be something to consider. Some people here have noticed huge improvements in the eye boogs by using only purified water in their water dishes - super easy thing to try out.

| I've Heard The Purified Water thing also works for my Pomeranian because she's white and gets the tear stains. So I'm gonna have to try that and see how it goes. At this time I cant really do anything about changing his food he's on prescription food for his liver shunt.

| A while back I noticed Tibbe had one each day in his left eye for 2 days and he had scratched at his left ear a time or two each day. I smelled of his left ear and it smelled sort of sweet & musky so I began using his ear cleaner from the vet twice a day for a week. He stopped scratching his ear and stopped the eye discharge. It's been two weeks and no eye discharge or ear smell or scratching has returned but if it does, it is vet time as it could be mites or infection. When Jilly had a bad tooth, her little eyes produced some discharge that collected and hardened on the side of her eye nearest her muzzle and after her tooth was pulled and a dental cleaning done, the discharge & crusting stopped. So my dogs at least can make eye discharge when there is something medically wrong that needs attention.

| My chachi gets eye gunk however Jewels doesnt. I just think some dogs are more prone to it. We just use a warm wet wash clothe to get it off
