Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() Oh, I missed a bunch of responses here. I'm glad I checked in ![]() I finally got Thor's behavioral assessment done, and they said he's a great, happy little guy who probably isn't well suited for daycare. They said he's doing fine without dog contact, and I should probably focus on safety and management. So that's kind of a bummer, but they said he's living a good life as he is. They gave me some extra tips to help modify his behavior, so I guess we'll see. I was very concerned he was bored most of the time, so as long as he's living a good life, that's what's important. Also, it sounds like that pug was totally asking for it.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | ![]() You tell him, Thor! Those pugs make all kinds of crazy grunts and wheezes. Lassie couldn't handle hanging out with them for an afternoon!

Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() Also the vet said that she would not recommend Prozac or anything like that. It makes me wonder if maybe Thor was just more nervous generally at daycare, to the point where he seemed like he needed meds. It's probably best that he's out of there. He wasn't fired, we quit! Also, Thor is now LP 3 on his left leg. So maybe I should focus my training on keeping his kneecap in place.

| ![]() I'm so glad they put your mind at ease about Thor. Not all dogs are social butterflies. If he prefers home to being around some ill mannered daycare kids I'm with him. I prefer to pick and choose who my kids hang out with! |

| ![]() Some pups prefer people, and honestly I think your Thor may be one of them. I don't see anything wrong with this. If he is at daycare and unhappy then thats not good for him either. I recently got a puppy for Miss Mini, at first she was obsessed with watching everything Miss Mia did and following her everywhere to do so. Then she engaged in some tug with her, now Miss Mini kind of wishes Miss Mia wasn't there at all! She puts her nose in the air and all but ignores her, or should I say tolerates her but yet always has one eye on her! As far as being home alone all day I don't think Thor minds, I think an xpen with toys, water and a peepad will be fine, they adjust well to our schedules. I think you need to stop beating yourself up and worrying, your a good Momma and hes happy you found him and theres no where he'd rather be then with you. I know others may think I'm wrong but I would consider getting a puppy for both of you, he has already shown that he CAN be trusted with other dogs, and puppies are different then big dogs. I know Miss Mini, despite what she thinks, loves having Miss Mia around! Good luck and give Thor a treat for me!

| ![]() awwww poor Thor! I have a little guy who seems to fear all other dogs too, and if one keeps pursuing him he will get a bit aggressive. The funny thing is he has been socialized almost his whole life with other dogs. Not sure where his fear comes from. Good Luck with Thor though! Keep working with him, hopefully he'll break his fear someday.

![]() ![]() ![]() I agree! Some of these babies are just not social butterflies! They are absolutely content being a "stay at home baby" and if they could, would probably tell you, "since you are so impressed with doggie daycare, YOU go!!!" Dont beat yourself up over this! My babies dont realize they are dogs and dont particularily care to associate with dogs! | |

I actually agree with you. The only thing to be careful of is to give "the" puppy plenty of exercise so she/he doesn't have the energy to overwhelm Thor BTW... I am also on Team Thor... psssst on that Pug lol
