I am so sorry. Poor baby. Mikki is scared of men. She will try to nip at their heels but if they turn she runs to me. But only does it to men. Hoping you can work something out for Mr. Thor.

Poor baby! That sad that he lives with so much fear. The one suggestion I can think of... I recently started Mickey in obedience classes. All the dogs are on leash and they really learn to focus on you and not the other dogs. We both had a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the next class. I'm thinking maybe this could benefit you and Thor could be exposed to other dogs but in a safe environment? Anyways, whatever you decide to do, good luck...

I guess it's sad that he can't enjoy daycare but if he did not like it there it might be less stress for him. He is so little and may need to take getting socialized one dog at a time rather than in group therapy. Many dogs just love being the only dog. Playing fetch and going for walks are great ways to run off energy. Hope the little guy feels safer now that he does not have to go to school. Who knows, there may have been a bully there!

That is a thought. I never thought one of my Boxers would ever be able to be around ANY dog other than his older brother. He had major issues. When we got our Yorkie he immediately took to him and they kiss all the time now. I think it was paternal instinct but I know all dogs are different and puppy mill dogs have such a hard time...Poor guy. God bless you and Thor!

I am so sorry... Corky would fail day care also. He will start a fight, I will not even send him to daycare.

We sent him to a doggy school. He did ok, But he still is barking and chasing dogs.

Hugs!

Poor little baby.....it breaks my heart when I think of just how much damage is done to these babies, just on what these babies are or are not exposed to, during the first 12-16 weeks of their lives! This is a critical time of learning and development and it formulates what that baby is going to be the rest of his life. This is why responsible breeders do NOT let their babies go out before that time! They are psychologically and emotionally molded during those so important weeks. Failure to do the necessary socializing and nurturing from breeders, and correct pack behavior lessons from momma as well, has a terrible consequence on the rest of that baby's life. I feel so bad for your little soul, and I feel sorry for YOU, that you now have these issues to deal with and try to "fix". A trainer may indeed be able to help you...if you get a good one....they can also evaluate if your baby needs to "be on medicine"....popping pills is not always the best answer...it is appropriate and invaluable in some cases, but it is not the answer to every situation. Good luck, and keep positive....he will get better with the proper help.

I am so sorry about little Thor. He is such a cutie. It is terrible the things these babies goes through in puppy mills and probably sticks with them after they are grown. But, maybe a good trainer can really help and we know how much you love him and he has a good home and alot going in his favor. Hang in there little one. Kayla has no excuse and I know she would fail day care in a second. lol!!!

I would take him to see your vet for an exam. Not long ago there was someone here on YT with a pup who's trainer said the dog was slow & it turned out to be a serious problem & the pup did not live. A trainer or doggy daycare provider should ALWAYS suggest a Vet visit if a pup is showing behavior that is not normal for that pup, IMO.

I don't think Buster or Maggie will ever be admitted to doggie day care. I would love for them to go, but even with small dogs they have their limits. I want to fill out the application and have the assessment done but I'm afraid they will tell me what i already suspect. Dog parks are out of the question for Maggie unless she is the only dog there. They have both had training so I'm not sure what to do next. Good luck with Thor.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for Thor. I know that you are sad for him and feel like you are giving up this dream of him romping and playing with other dogs ~ but Thor is not sad. Doggie Daycare is not for every dog ~ not for many dogs, I would guess.

It's really not uncommon for a dog to be aggressive with other dogs.

Thor sounds like he would just be happier and less stressed if he were out of that environment.

Perhaps, if you are determined, you can one day find him a little friend. It may only be one, though, and he may never be comfortable in a group of dogs.

He can still lead a happy and fulfilling life!

I wonder if there was a scuffle in daycare that they didn't tell you about. The fact that he was doing well and suddenly started shrieking makes me think something happened to make him uncomfortable.

Jillie has a terrible shriek she lets out at the slightest injury. I expect to see a missing limb, but it's just a last-ditch defense mechanism.

I'd try smaller, supervised groups for a while and see if it helps. Of course, it doesn't solve your day-care problem, but it might be easier on him.

I am sorry Thor, maybe Daycare is just not your thing baby. I think sometimes Daycare is a little hard for some singleton dogs.

Sophie Kate didn't fail Daycare, she was EXPELLED for biting a Pug named LuLu in the butt. I was also told she could use to some training (I am sure Prozac was on the list also but I didn't give them time to suggest it).

Maybe a small group playdate would help.
