I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It's been corporate policy for some time, but I guess the individual stores can allow it.

| That's too bad. Sounds like an irresponsible dog owner ruined it for everyone else.

| My local Lowe's allows me to bring Tatiana. Now I do have Tatiana in a pet carrier that doubles as my purse. She sticks her head out. Tatiana is small (about 3 lbs). Incidentally, I do have a letter from my doctor designating her as my comfort animal. This gives her access to all stores. I've only been asked once about Tatiana. It was in Target. It's funny. The security guard asked if she was a service animal. I said yes, and offered to show her my doctor's letter (I keep a copy in the pocket of the pet carrier). The security guard said it was unnecessary for her to look at the letter. She took my word for it. Last edited by MidnightUnicorn; 04-04-2012 at 10:53 AM. Reason: Typos |

| As Nancy said, it can even be the curious admirer of a cute little dog just innocently reaching out to give a pat on the head of the cute little dog and...well, who knows how a dog will react.

At the time and I will still take one of them at a time, to the local Kmart, Dollar Tree, Walgreen, post office. But then, like I said, I don't live an overly metropolitan area. Maybe that has something to do with it. Idk. There was a woman in the Tuesday morning and she would always be disappointed when I didn't bring Hot Rod in with me. She even told me that he would always! be welcome into the store. She was in love with him. She's no longer there but the other woman who worked with her are and they oh and ah over him or Maggie when I bring them in.

| Things like this is what irritates me. I take mine to Lowe's, Home Depot, and several other places. This is the first I've heard about Lowe's. I don't know the story behind the dog biting incident, but I can just about guarantee that it comes down to stupidity, whether it was on the owner's part or the person that was bit. I say this, because after 15yrs of animal rescue work and dealing with dogs ranging from the tiny Yorkie and Chihuahua all the way up to Dobermans, GSDs, and even Wolf Hybrids, 95% of dog bites occur due to downright poor judgement, which I prefer to call stupidity, because in my area...well, that's what it comes down to. Some people I would gladly say that it was just uneducated on the dangers, but most just don't care to even try to control their dogs or, on the other side, don't care to watch the warning signs. Don't get me wrong...I'm all about trying to educate and about helping people, but when you get no where more times than you get through...it gets a little frustrating. On another note, yes, I have met fearful biting dogs, which in those cases, those dogs shouldn't be out in public in the first place. As far as people with allergies...I have allergies to some breeds and places that are well ventilated, like Lowe's and Home Depot, even Petsmart...it doesn't bother me at all, and I know to avoid those breeds. I wish there was a way that it could be required for the dog to pass something like the CGC before going into a public place. I don't know if that would work or not, but it would sure cut down on bites. Not saying they wouldn't happen, because I witnessed a certified therapy dog going after another one during a therapy visit one time, but that's very rare. Anyway, that's just my two cents.

| Our local Lowes no longer allows pets because some got bitten. The manager is a member of my church. So this weekend when I went to get plants a child pushing a cart ran into me and cut my heel (I had sandals on). So I went to the managers office and told him I was just injured ( still had the bloody paper towel) by a child in the store and I did not want. Holden allowed in the store any more. He know my feelings about the dog thing so this was great! When I saw him at church Sunday he said they had posted a sign that children could not push carts without parent supervision LOL.

To the OP, it's easier reading about this then having someone come up to you and tell you that your loved one is no longer welcome, it's hard to not take it personally.
