| Milo the water dog Well the time had finally come so it was time for Mr. Milo to take a dip. He is fairly small so I used the bathroom sink, it worked great. I din't use any of the high dollar shampoo I read that you gals are using so I used what I had. I have a bottle of puppy shampoo I got at petsmart and it seems to work OK. I though it dried out his hair too much however and I think I'll do some reading here and change brands. Milo took to the actual bath very well, which is not surprising. I would expect trouble to come with later trips to the bath tub as he has had some experience now and may decide he doesn't like it, time will tell. He didn't fight me at all and he made the job very easy. After the bath I was real careful to dry him completely so he wasn't running around damp. I main sure his pooper and tinkler were clean and I checked his ears and dried them very well. I brushed him all over (that was a bit of a battle) and then it was play time. His hair was freshly cleaned and was sticking out all over, so cute. Since his ears aren't up all the way I think I will try taping them next, wish me luck. |

| You might want to shave them first. That might be all you need to do. It's easy to do. You're going to be a professional Milo bather before you know it.

| Good job MiloGet ready Dad it won't always be this easy LOL Georgie's baths are adventures and we have tried every sink and tub in the house. It literally takes 2 of us to keep our 4lb monster still LOL If you are thinking of switching shampoo a few people have recommended minksheen I tried and love it (Georgie not so much). It may seem pricey but you can dilute it and it will last forever.

| You should clean there ears with an ear cleaner with a drying agent to dry any water that got in there out and plus ears should be cleaned weekly or any time they get wet. He may like baths always I know mine does.

| I have a double sink in the kitchen, the main side is bigger and deeper. I stick maggie in there and she tolerates it. She will not stand on all 4's or lie in it. She puts her front paws up on the top where the divider is. It's just the right height and it helps me rinse her since the water flows downward from her head. I usually get sprayed by one or two round of shaking, but I keep a towel nearby to hold up when I feel it coming on. She has gotten better as she has learned that it won't kill her. I also noticed that she likes it better when the water is warmer. Since they have a higher body temp than us it makes sense they would prefer a warmer bath to a cooler one, so I make it warmer than my skin temp (testing on wrist like baby bottle). The sink sprayer helps a lot too. If you have a double kitchen sink you might want to give it a try. At first it grossed me out before I had a dog, but since she is bathed every week and doesn't shed (and leave hair in the sink) I decided it is not gross. Nothing a little anti-bac soap can't handle. I just tried pethead's blueberry muffin variety, Petsmart exclusive they claim. Smelled nice and I think she scratched less than she did with the other stuff (petsmart brand) that I used before. She is usually in a puppy cut that only gets a little long between groomings, so her hair shine/dry whatever is not an issue like it might be for those who want long silky hair. |
