First, the girl that posted about her dog that she purchased from Set did not follow the rules of the Sick and Injured Forum which are you need to follow up and put closure to your post in that area of YT. So now a year later we are left to question what happened when she said she was following up with further care. IMO, her endorsement is not fully credible because her dog had an issue and now she claims otherwise. So as much as you might not like there were words exchanged it was something that needed to be brought into the open. :) My second point to you is this; you live on the East coast~NY to be exact. There are so many good breeders that you can deal with in your backyard. Why take a chance of a breeder that is all the way in TX or for that matter out of driving range for your puppy. A contract really is only good if you are able to legally enforce it and I have seen plenty of people not have legal leverage to continue a battle when they had a sick dog. Why chance it, when you can stay within driving distance? A local breeder will want to have satisfied local customers vs someone thousands of miles away. If you were to try to enforce a contract it would be in the state of the dog's purchase and your burden. So I say stick close to home and stay away from having a dog shipped from out of state. :) |

[QUOTE=megansmomma;3861476]I would like to chime in again, this time I have two comments and food for thought. :) QUOTE] First excuse me for not realizing there is procedure and you need to follow up and put closure to you post. Which I think I did. I came on and told everyone what the vet said so there was no questioning what happened. I didnt mention following up with further care, other members said I should or they would if it was them. Im really sorry we havehad no further issues and do beleive it was an injury. Honeslty I dont care if you think im credible or not I was only giving my opinon on the subject just like you |

Okay back to the OP's question vs a vs Breeders. One thing that could work, is if you have someone you know that lives nearby to a breeder that you are interested in; they could visit the breeder, and see the sires and dams. Another I like to ask for is the Breeder's Vet Reference, and do follow-up on that reference. I would ask the vet specific questions on what tests she does on her breeding pairs. For example even though my vet is not qualified to do CERF, Razzle's cerf certification is kept on file with him, as well as OFA certification on hips, Thyroid, etc. I would ask the vet in his opinion do her breeding dams/sire, meet the standard in terms of structure, coat, color, etc. I would ask the vet about the temperament of her dogs. I would ask the vet how long she has been a client, and does she bring in any of her other breeds to him? This is a sneaker quesiton, because if she hasn't disclosed to you all her breeds that she breeds then,...... On the subject of Contracts: it would be of benefit to you the purchaser, prior to signing a contract to run it past your lawyer. You truly do want to understand your rights under this contract. And on a side note' I'd never accept a pup that has been spayed prematurely. Or agree to a condition that a pup MUST be spayed prior to 12months. There can be some medical conditions that prevent you from fulfilling that part of the contract. And it is up to me and my Vet to determine the most appropriate time for spaying/neutering |

I'm not sure where this is all coming  There is no need to acceleration my posts regarding Shorebound by your misunderstanding of my precious posting. If it were not for you informing us of you coincidentally sending her a PM yesterday we would not have even know. On a side note regarding PMs....as far as I have always been led to believe ADMIN and MODS do not moderate or check our PM. They are just that~private. Furthermore, what are you asking for proof of from me? Did I possibly miss something on this thread. As you previously stated, we should get back the what the OP started this thread about, her questions about SET Yorkies and her search of a new puppy. IMO, this needs to be dropped. But if you need further clarification please feel free to PM me. :) Nicole, I am very sorry that this seems to be some huge misinterpretation on the part of LM. My thoughts regarding what transpired were not meant to provoke this back and forth dialogue and it's my hope it has been sucessfullly address or be taken to PMs if necessary. :) |

Just a note: Many members choose to read threads and not to post, so just bc someone hasn't posted in years doesn't mean they are not 'here'. But I'm sure you all know that. |

And there will be a widely varying opinions on this. My opinion is outside the norm for this forum, but it is I believe an informed one, and one that honors my belief in giving each pup the chance to mature to their full boney potential:) I will not spay a dog before the growth plates close and research indicates this is at 12-14mths month' which is probably a safe timeframe for the toy breeds. And actually there is no guesswork involved, one lateral view of the tibial plate done by Xray can tell the vet if that growth plate has closed and if it has then as this is the last growth plate to close all others have. |
