He will bark when we sit on the couch and when someone come in even in the morning when its time to get up. I have tried everything to make him stop. Nothing is working. Any suggestions how to get him to stop.

| Take a can and fill it with small pebbles or some change, when he barks , shake it. This has worked well for me and my five

| Thanks. I will try the can thing. This morning at 6:30 he woke us up barking and jumping around trying to bite us so we would get up. He is driving me crazy in the mornings. The kids are ready to kill him. Lol. I must have failed at the training.

| Along with DonnainOhio's suggestion - Reward him for correct behavior. For instance, If I know he is going to bark when so and so walks in the room. I would shake the can as soon as he starts barking, when he quits barking - Jackpot- he gets his reward. I have found that rewarding the wanted behavior greatly speeds up training. I have trained all my Rottweilers using this method and my little yorkie mix is coming along nicely with reward training as well. The reward can be anything they really like. My dogs are all food modivated so I usually use cut up hotdogs, cheese, etc.

| I am fortunate that my little guy doesn't bark much.... when he was a baby and started barking I would say Quiet and wait for him to stop... every time he stopped for a few seconds he would get a treat. He caught on fast |

| Milo is 7 months old. I am going to have to work hard on this because he has got bad in the last few days. I have used the squirt bottle and that helped for awhile but now he thinks I am playing. It's like he gets mad at us if we sit on the couch. He will start barking and biting at our feet and hands.

Stopping the barking is hard work..try to reward him when he is in a calm state and correct him the instant that he shows signs of going into bark mode.

| What kind of treats do you give for good behavior? I use green beans or carrots. He loves them. Just wondering how many is good for him in one day?

| "OH for pity sake shut up !" That is not the right way to teach your Yorkie to be quiet. Even if we feel like yelling it sometimes. LOL So Please read the Threads on file. Yorkie Talk has a full library about training issues. I have written many pages of training advice and lessons to help. Others have also written good advice. I am sure you will find a method that will work for your Yorkie. Best Wishes Teresa

I would say the beans and carrots are a really good choice. Stick with it they are small and wont make him full, as long as you are not giving him too much that he does not want to eat his normal meals. You could also try Cheerios!

| Abby has always been the perfect puppy (except for potty training!) but at 8 months she has started to show a little " teenage" attitude. She barks at the cats next door and I have to go over and put my finger on her nose and say "shhh"- she is getting it but forgets when she first runs outside.Work in progress... |
