| Laddy was a crier the first 2 nights I found if I put his crate next to the bed so he could see me it solved the problem. I couldn't cover the crate he had to see me. He is 3 now and still thinks he has to see me sleep lol.

| We noticed that Bolton's crate has to be away from our bedroom for him to be quiet. He likes the quiet and does not like the noise from our t.v. in the bedroom. Also, if he hears one of us get up during the night or the t.v. go on in the middle of the night he will start to wimper a bit to get us to let him out. STAY STRONG! Don't let your baby sleep in bed with you. If you hang in there after a few months your baby will prefer his/her cage over your bed. Sometimes if we fall asleep with Bolton in bed he will leave our room on his own and sleep in or around his cage. Definately try a piece of clothing or blanket with your sent in his/her cage. Bolton has a small torn piece of blanket from his original crate. He likes to put his head on it at night. Good luck with your baby! Welcome to the board, its a great community for help and support. Definately come on here whenever you need help or advise. |

| Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Welcome to YT! Congrats on your new addition. We got our Katie Scarlett when she was 12 weeks, so a little older than your pup. I am not sure if we got lucky or what but she didn't ever really cry a whole lot, but it may of been because of the way we did things. We crate trained her as well. We used this thing called a 'Potty Training Puppy Apartment.' It's like a crate but has a divider in it. One small side is her 'bed' and the other is for the potty pad. At night, we kept her in her PTPA and put it right next to our bed. I think since she was able to see us she did much better. She cried for maybe 15 minutes the first night or two but ever since, she is quiet as a mouse when it's night night time in our house. After a while, we started moving her crate a little further away from our bed each night. Now she has moved all the way into the kitchen. She can still see us though. From her spot in the kitchen, she can look down the hall and see our bed. We now keep her PTPA open at night and she sleeps in her big girl bed that is set up right next to it. I keep her x-pen up at night too so she cannot roam the house. I give her just enough space to get to/from her bed to the pad and a tiny bit of room for her water bowl and a little play spot. I am not sure if it was the PTPA or what, but she did great with her potty training. We had a small setback after her spay, but she is back on track now. Good luck to you!

| 2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | It will take time but she will get use to it. Plus those cries may be telling you that she needs to pee. You may need to start getting up to take her out to potty during the night than back to her cage. Try putting her in her cage during the day for naps instead of letter her sleep in a doggy bed or anywhere she falls (if she does fall asleep, take her to her cage) that will help her get use to it. The cage should be in an area of the home where she has full view of the family. Try to get her to go into her cage on her own and reward her with lots and lots of praise or a Cheerio. We only had one cage, so I cant even start to count how many times I moved our cage from our bedroom up stairs to down stairs while cage training our four Yorkies. 100's of times... But I did it... and it was worth every trip! I have four very well trained, well behaved, very trusworthy and happy Yorkies to show for all of my/our hard work. I cant take all of the credit, Everyone chipped in. It will take a several weeks of hard work and effort from all members of the family. Here are some tips from my site that I used to train our pups. They may be helpful: http://www.dawnsyorkies.weebly.com/trainingtips
