| It is best to spay them before there first heat but I don't think they go into heat until after 6 months or some were between 6 and 9 months.

| I live in a "big dog" area as well. When weather is bad I play fetch with Gracie between the living room and the kitchen. She has to put up with my bad throwing arm but she has a good time. I don't think that what your vet showed you had anything to do with fleas. If you don't have them I wouldn't treat your pup until spring if possible. There is a prescription flea treatment that also treats for various worms and ear mites. I have never used it. It's a bit expensive and is a monthly treatment like the regular Advantage is. When you make your appointment you can ask for them to schedule you with which ever vet you like. Just tell them up front that you want to schedule with Dr ----- and they will put you in. Otherwise they will keep putting where ever is convenient for them. |
