| Might be a silly question So our yorkie, Harley, was born Oct. 29th, 2011. She has already started to get silver hair on her head. I was wondering if that is normal? I was looking on her papers from her vet and it says under breed :Yorkshire Terrier Mix. But the Mix part is blacked out. So I don't know if that is a typo or what. She was marketed as a purebred and we saw pictures of mom prior to getting Harley and she was a yorkie and we saw dad when we got there and he was a Yorkie, but mom wasn't there anymore because she ran away a few days prior. I'm just wondering if I'm off my rocker in being worried that she's not totally purebred. I won't love her any less if she's not. This is Harley when we first got her home: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...9/IMG_0073.jpg And about 2 weeks ago: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...9/IMG_0383.jpg So whats everyones opinions? |

| Don't worry it is perfectly normal! My new baby born 10/28 is also now showing grey on her head. I love it I can't wait to see what they we look like when grown! My last baby that passed in September was the same way and she turned very light colored and was beautiful. I know your baby will be just beautiful enjoy!

| If its vet papers and not breeder papers I wouldnt take a vets opinion over what the breeder has stated anyway

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Not sure about your vet’s system, but it could mean that blacking out the mix, means they look purebred. There's no way to know for sure without a DNA test, but I wanted to tell you that Joey's head became white/silver until around 11 months, when it became beige overnight. When he had white hair with black tips, he looked baldish, as if the white hair was scalp, and this wasn’t a good look. This is around 12 weeks It looks baldish, but there was hair there, his kerchief was a little big! He has no more white!

| Thank you all sooo much! That puts my question to rest. I know all puppies look different at certain stages in their life. |

| Prissy was born Sept.24, she is all white on top now and the ends are black...I love all the color changes. I just bathed her and her hair on her face is now looking coppery..now just imagine white on top with copper whiskers. LOL

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Thank you, there is much variation in coloring, but one thing is true, they are adorable no matter what color!

| The silver is perfectly normal, and I didn't realize they change color until I got mine. Somebody, I think here, posted a chart that tells you what colors your Yorkie will have based on what color he was when you got him. I see a lot of Yorkies with silver on the head and chest. Ruger had a blue head, then it turned silver, now it's light tan -- and he's only two. |
