Just make sure to watch out for the hypoglycemia and not let her go more than 8 hrs without any food in her. You have the vet on hand so you will be fine. Best of luck. Don't let others get you down and upset you need to focus more on the pup. She is home with you now and considering the breeder wanted her gone then its most likely better for her to be with you. |

I think size has a lot to do with the hypoglycemia. How much does she weigh? Link was 2lbs at 6 and half weeks and is now 10lbs at 6 months. he never had a problem with it.. I had always heard that the smaller they are the bigger the vet bill and the bigger they are the smaller the vet bill. Not sure how true it is but my big boy is very healthy. :) |

I agree 4 hours is better...I had just read 8 hours when i got my pup. I guess that was for over night. I fed my baby 3 times a day and kept water out all the time. Breaking up the 3 feedings evenly to where he would not go longer than 8 hours without food over night.:) |
Well she hasn't been too interested in eating or drinking. But I just gave her some wet dog food and she ate a little bit of that. I know it's not good to just switch food, but she didn't like the dry food. I mixed it with warm water to soften it and she still didn't like it. I even hand fed her some and she only ate like 3 pieces. But other than the disinterest in eating and drinking, she's fine. She's pretty playful, but I make sure she gets rest. |
Like you said I know its not good to switch food so young but if she won't eat it then you might have to switch to a different food. I would keep to the dry food tho and not do canned. I heard it can give them diarrhea. Im sure you know this but if you do switch make sure to do it gradually and not suddenly. :number1ri you will make a great fur mommy!!! |

Its not a bad food,just not the best. I take issue with the companys practises (IAMS) more than anything. I have tried Wellness but I have two dogs that can not handle the fish oil (OMEGA 3) in it. So everyone at my house is on Blue Buffalo. There is a thread in the library on food reviews and there have been several threads on what everyone prefers. |
RAINEY I know how you feel. I lost my husband and one month later lost my little yorkie we had 10 years due to cancer. I was so upset and alone my son took me to look at yorkies and I ended up coming home with one. The breeder said she was 8 weeks, which is still young she was so tiny but I raised toy poodles for years and since there was no one but me to take care of I agreed. When I calmed down enough to look at her AKC papers I discovered she was only 7 weeks old. The lady told us she had just been diagnosed with cancer herself and she had this litter of Yorkies and a litter of Maltese to sell before she started chemo. I have spent every minute with her. Took her every where I went inside my jacket. I only went thru drive thrus and the pet shop. Just try and relax and enjoy your little baby. You both will be fine. Wish we were in Hawaii now lol.
