| Does your yorkie groom themselves? At first I thought it was just my girl Hope that would lick her paws like a cat would and groom herself. But the other night after coming in from a walk while it was wet outside, I noticed my little Bambina doing the same thing!

| My Zoey is a self cleanser. She grooms herself just like a cat. I keep her in a short puppy cut for this reason plus she hates to be brushed/ combed. She will only tolerate her top knot being done. She even trims her own toenails.

| That would be nice if mine did their own toenails! All 3 of my girls aren't crazy about that. I'm still working with the pups to get them used to all the aspects of grooming, and boy are they stubborn! I did find it kinda nice that Bambina decided to clean her own feet though, made my job a little easier trying to get everyone dry enough for bed.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've had dogs that lick the pee area, but if they are licking their paws there may be other problems. Everything from a sticker to allergies can cause paw licking. I also would be concerned if they were biting their nails, a nail could split causing a lot of problems, it might be best to get them trimmed short. By the way, the nails should never touch the ground, it will cause the feet to spread.

| I'm the object of Kiwi's grooming. When I brush her in my lap, my hands get a thorough grooming at the same time, and when we are snuggled in bed at night, under my chin gets a complete lickdown. I just hope there's some undiscovered miracle moisturizer in her saliva. She will even pause during her licks with her tongue lingering or slowing down in one spot before moving on like I have a tangle or something. |

| I think I've discovered the secret to Bambi's grooming her feet... disappointing and disgusting as it is... it was wet and muddy and every night around 10 pm I take them on a walk to my back yard with me to feed my horses. They probably got poopy/muddy paws... And a well known fact is horse poop tastes good to dogs... YUCK! Tonight I think I"ll carry her til I'm done feeding and avoid the whole dirty paws problem... Hope on the other hand, she will do it once in a while and lick her whole leg (fronts only) just like a cat. At first I was worried it was from nerves or a hot spot... but I've had her for almost 5 years now and never a single problem.

| Ziva cleans her feet every evening when everything is settling down. If she gets to carried away I bring her to the sink and she actually holds them under the faucet one at a time! She really seems to appreciate the help! |

| Also just to add, if we go out for potty and his feet get wet/dirty, I use the mud sink in the garage and i have some carpet remnants before the entrance to the house that he can run on and dry them off. We also have a potty cloth to blot his winky of excess moisture, I never thought I would do this, but I am not uncomfortable in the least bit, it keeps bedding clean and nothing for him to lick up My dh is also on board with it all and actually does all of Bubba's bathing He has a much more calm assertive manor when Bubba whimpers, I just kind of melt and try to finish asap. Bubba has grown to love bath time |

| He also has OCD like Peanut, he'll lick his paws. My vet said some dogs lick their paws, it's just like thumb sucking lolll! He's had skin scraping/cytology done & all they found was some normal bacteria they pick up from the ground/grass (some cases it can be yeast bacteria that causes the frito feet smell). He prescribed some spray (can't remember what it's called), but I didn't like that Momo was still licking & possibly ingesting the medication. I've been using Warren London's Sani-Paw as a cleanser after their walks & he's stopped licking his paws.

| Elvis licks his feet like a cat, my hands, the other dogs, sometimes all over himself but less with a pup cut...I drew the line when I caught him 'grooming' the kids. Seriously he's like OCD with it.
