First of all, you are a lot braver than me. I won't take Gracie to places that have big dogs. My other dog was attacked by a dog and I guess it has left me very nervous with Gracie around bigger dogs.

People like that guy are sick in the head. They feel threatened by anything that might challenge his idea of what life is about. They are so insecure about themselves that they have to insult anything that is different than the little world that their little minds have created.

I'm sure he wanted to frighten you and you little cutie. I'm glad you were not intimidated.

This is exactly what they should do, they should ban him from their store. I think when you have a chance you should go back up there and talk to the mgr or owner and ask him/her why they would allow anyone to keep entering their store that is KNOWN to be harassing their customers. Tell them that now you and your friends with small dogs are nervous about shopping at this store since they continue to allow someone to harass their customers. While I think it was nice for the employee to comfort you after the fact, she should have alerted the mgr as soon as the "known" person came him and at least warned him to keep his comments to himself.
This person could have mental issues or something, so while I am annoyed with him, I really think it is the stores responsibility to keep it from happening again. LOL if you want to give me the stores number, I can be pretty effective on the phone.

Seems to me this man has what I like to call, a case of Small Dog Envy. I have had this happen to me and I have retaliated by yelling right back at the person. I feel sorry for your dog that you do not love it enough to make sure it has a coat on in this weather. You should be ashamed of yourself and I should call the aspca on you. They leave me alone after that. If you have never owned a yorkie then you do not know that they need their clothes. Next time this happens to you give them my number, I have a few things I would like to say lol. Please do not ever doubt yourself as a yorkie Mother. I think you are awesome.

WOW! I can't believe I missed this. I am so sorry he treated you this way. I always wonder what makes people act the way they do. They must have a sad miserable life to be able to treat a complete stranger that way.

Hugs for you and Miss KS. We love you!

Sorry you had this experience...you know the old saying "empty barrels make alot of noise" - well apparently he is just as empty as he can be! Talk about ignorance...in my opinion, he was trying to intimidate you. Good thing you said nothing...never know what kind of nuts there are in this great big world.

That petsmart should ban him from the store and call the police for harassment next time he is there.

A bunch of us should write the corporate office of Petsmart letting them know how we will not be visiting this particular store anymore because a man with a rottie harassed us about or small dogs
If there was a regular that did this at my PetSmart here they would never hear the end of it from me!

It really makes me wonder what this man's Rottweiler is treated like at home. Does he get any love at all or is he "just a dog" with food tossed on the floor for him once a day and left in the backyard to watch the house? I know we're not supposed to make assumptions, or stereotype, etc...but the way this man treated the OP reallllllly makes me wonder about his own precious pet.

Well, sounds like he really cares for his dog. I think he just has issues with seeing small dogs in clothes and all dolled up.

That being said, if you wanted to make a dress for your dogs out of maxi pads and diapers and weren't causing discomfort to your dog it's none of his business.

I'm a bit frustrated to say the least! Let me tell you what happened to me today in PetSmart. Katie Scarlett needed her daily walk but with all the snow on the ground and the strong winds it is freezing here. She shivers at the slightest breeze so I thought I would drive to PetSmart and walk around in there for a bit to let her get some exercise, socialize, and pick up a few things. She loves it there. She knows when our car turns into the shopping center it is in and she goes nuts. I always let her walk outside in the grass for a minute so she can do her business and then we walk in. So far we have had nothing but good experiences. All the employees know us and love her to pieces. And most of the time, every single person we encounter either grins, says 'ooh' or 'how cute', or wants to pet/talk to us...which we love. We love to get chatty and meet other dogs/dog owners.

Well today this man with a Rottie came up to me. He said hello and asked me if 'he' was a Yorkie. Well first of all I said, that 'she' is a Yorkie. I wanted to say...well hello! Can you not tell that she is a 'she?'!!! She had a dress, bow, pink harness, and pink leash, but I did not. Then you want to know what he said??!!!!

I quote....

"I feel so sorry for pets like yours. She is being mistreated being made up like that and someone should report you to the animal cruelty officers. She is a dang (but he didn't say 'dang') dog, not your child, and you should be ashamed of treating her like you do! I wish people like you would be declared unfit to own any pet!"

OMG! I was floored! I mean, it came out of nowhere. No hello, no conversation, just direct accusation! I was so stunned I could not say anything. He immediately turned around and marched out the door at that point. I just stood there for a good few minutes just with my jaw dropped. Then this nice girl who worked there came over and told me not to worry. Apparently this same guy comes in all the time harassing small dog owners. They have had to ask him to leave several times. They think he sits in the parking lot watching people go in. Can you believe that?!

I am still just in amazement at the whole situation! I mean, it did not hurt my feelings. I thought....'what an idiot!' If he only knew how much I pamper and love on my dog! You guys know I do! The nerve of some people just makes me want to smack 'em on the head! LOL

Had to get that off my chest tonite! Thanks for listening!

Um, WOW! Little does he know how well K.S. is treated! I think most of us on here do see our pets as part of the family. I am so sorry for him that he does feel the same way. I sure hope yelling at a complete stranger and her pampered little pooch made big ole grouchy caveman feel better!

Oh, I think you did great. I don't think I could have held my tongue. He needed to be told, Sir, its your Rottie that needs to be felt sorry for, to have to live with someone like you. People are sickos nowdays. Wonder how that poor dog lives with a little boy in a big bully body. Ugh!

What an A**hole!!!!!! I cant believe the nerve of some people. Clearly this idiot is in a store that sells oh I dont know.. dog clothes!! dog bows!! and all of the other items that your little sweetie owns. I get so tired of hearing about people who feel they have the right to verbally assault others. I would think that PetSmart would simply ban this tool from the store.

Sorry that you had to endure this jerks rant

Thanks guys!

And I am going to talk to the manager at Petsmart tomorrow. I told my husband about it and the more I thought about the whole situation, the more frustrated I became. The girl who witnessed the incident is working Saturday. I called the store today to set up a time to speak with him (the manager). He was very friendly...that is how I found out she is working too. He asked me if anyone witnessed the incident and I told him the girls name. I am going to ask him if he cannot address corporate about this and to see if he bothers someone again about calling the police. I just keep thinking that I don't want anyone else to have to hear what I heard. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.

I thought the same thing about how he treats his rottie and what if he gets his rottie to attack small dogs since he hates them? im probably going to far by saying that but you never know! I'm sorry for the way he talked to you, it was totally uncalled for.
