Male or Female? What do all of you prefer male or female yorkies? I am deciding on a pup and the breeder has one of each. What are the good and bad points of either? I could really use your advice. Thanks.

Well, there was another lady that was also interested in the pups, I had first choice, but she wanted the male, so I went with the female. She is still just a baby born June 30. She is a cutie though.

| Yes, I agree, Its apersonal preference. My husband & I chose to have the sweet little girls. We have never had boy yorkies but I did have a very smart "Heinz 57 Varieties" male that left footprints in my heart when I was a youngster. My kids grew up with a female mini poodle, a very devoted family pet, she's in the Rainbow Meadows now waiting to meet again too. We didn't actually pick our first yorkie, she picked us. I think she could tell we were the perfect parents for her. When her sister came along, we took the smallest of the litter, it just seemed like she needed us more. It sure turned out that way too, because she was the one that spent the first week in the hosp. after having her with us for only 4 hrs. We couldn't send her back to the breeder that let her go home with us, with a health cert.. We figured we saved her from dying and her older sister nurtured and cared for her like she was her very own pup. It was so cute to see. We're blessed with our little girls, they are so precious to us as you can see.

I am going to be getting her in 9 weeks or more if needed, the breeder wants to keep her for the first 9 weeks. I just want her to be healthy and ready. Any cute name ideas? I was thinking Bella or Gypsy. I like unique names. I have a cat named Pip because he was on orphan like the little boy in great expectations. My family was always particular to female dogs, we have never owned a male. But I heard that male yorkies prefer female humans and vice versa.

Gypsy would sure be unique! It's hard to say what to name her, perhaps wait a few days before deciding? We prenamed Yoda WAY before we got him, and he sort of grew into the name...
