I think it's pretty much personal preference. My husband and I prefer the female ... they just seem sweeter and you don't have to deal with that "leg lifting" thing.
I find both male and female just precious!! I really don't have experience with male Yorkies. I had a pedigreed Scotch Collie as a child and he was so wonderful!! He was sooo sweet, but was agressive when he felt the need to protect! My Mom had her 89th birthday today and I just came home from her party and oddly enough she recalled an incident when I was about 7 years old!! [I am now 61] I was playing in the yard and had done something bad which deserved a "switching" and my faithful dog, Duke, growled deep in his throat, raised the fur on his back and got between my Mother and me!!
I never got a spanking in the yard again!! God, I loved that dog!!!
