| Can't decide to grow out her hair or not I'm having trouble deciding if I want to grow out Sparrow's hair or if I want to keep it short. She has only been here a little while and she came to us with short hair. I don't know what her hair looks like when it's long. It doesn't tangle easily, but it's not that long. I have never had a Yorkie so I don't know what a full coat would be like to take care of. I do have all the grooming tools and supplies because I was studying to groom dogs just before I moved to a new state. I could groom her either way, but I don't know which way is better. I think both looks are very cute. Here is a picture of her outside, and it was cold and somewhat windy. http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/a...ofIMG_2676.jpg Here she is inside and laying down. http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/a...ofIMG_2657.jpg |

| What a pretty li'l thing. I'd grow it out. I think all Yorkies are beautiful but there's something about the medium to long hair that just makes me go aaaaaaaahhhhhhwwwww. We have a neighbor down the street who gets her Yorkie shaved everywhere except the tail, legs and face..that's really pretty, too. I say, if she's eager to be groomed, try everything until you find something that you like on her, and that she is comfortable with. |

| My Rosie has long hair and I LOVE it. It is more upkeep. I brush her at least twice a day. Don't want any tangles. I also use a good shampoo and conditioner on her. But I think the long hair looks so pretty.

| I prefer short - it's all just personal preference, I think. Jackson is a total manly man and long hair would just NOT fit him. He's always out and about, getting messy and dirty and rolling in things - plus he hates being groomed so being short is very easy upkeep. Give him a quick brush over once a week, a bath every 2 weeks and he's good to go.

| She's so cute! I think her pixie-like features lend themselves to either but I favor a med-long coat. |

| Brody and Mia were both clipped very short on their bodies when I got them. I am growing out their coats for now at least so I can see how their coats grow, what they look like full, and if the dog likes the full coat. I can always have it cut later. I am partial to the Yorkie full coat, but Yorkies are so cute clipped...and so many styles. Your fur baby is adorable, and her coat is already growing out. You certainly have the same options, and, since you already know how to clip her, you can do so at any point you decide a full coat is not right for either you or her. Just a thought...

| With the type of coat she has, I say let it grow out since she isn't a cotton. My Razael has a full coat to the floor and I just love it. She's easy to brush out because she doesn't mat. My Azrael has a cotton coat and impossible to brush out when even a tiny bit long. I shave her except for her face, tail and legs, and the legs still mat and I'm constantly brushing them out with the slicker.

| Thank you everybody. I will go for the medium length look if I decide that the full coat is too much. It's going to be a while before it grows out all the way. I did groom dogs when I was taking lessons, but I never got to groom a Yorkie which is just one tiny reason why I have been looking a long time to rescue one. In theory the full coat isn't that hard to groom if you keep it clean and tangle free. At least she isn't a poodle because then I would have so many more styles to choose from and a whole lot more grooming to do. |

| If Chewie had hair that long, I'd be picking out knots all day long! He has thick fluffy hair, and he's such a boy about it--short hair works better for us. That being said, Sparrow has such a good start on a long coat, and she doesn't tangle easily! If you have the time and inclination, and it fits her personality, I say go for it! You can always cut it later if you decide it's not working for you
