| Yorkie puppy ears, how do I keep them up? I have 3 yorkies, well a little more than that right now as I just had my first litter 3 weeks ago and had 4 beautiful puppies. I had a question about their ears as my first Yorkie was a rescue dog and his ears were down when we got him as he was 2 years old. My second yorkie was a female and the breeder told me to shave the hair on the ears and tape them up to keep them staying up. My third Yorkie his ears were just up no taping needed. Is there something I need to do with the ears at an early age to keep them staying up and preventing them going down. Any help would be much appreciated |

My furkids Donating Member | Welcome to YT!!! all 3 of mine are up! The breeder shaved the top 1/3rd of the ear...Lillies were down before we got her...after the breeder shaved her ears they popped right up!..My neighbor got a yorkie pup this past summer...he has one up and the top of one down.,.she doesn't want them to standup so she doesn't have the hair shaved on his ears when they have him shaved.

| Ok..now don't jump on me guys..here is what was recommended to me..it worked like a charm. Get a brown paper grocery bag. Cut out two triangle shapes, the same size as the ears.Shape the pieces the way you want the ears to be shaped.. Take elmers glue and use little dots of glue on the outside portions of the triangles and one dot in the middle. I placed this on the hair side, not inside of the ear. There was no irritation or issue. After about a week- 10 days, the ears were perfectly straight up. No kidding! If they fell, I just redid the application. I read it in a yorkie book..showed with pictures..but I have to remember what Yorkie book if mine I got that from

| Taz had his 2 birthday this November and his ears still haven't erected. It seems that it doesn't bother him and nobody ever said it was a problem. I don't mind them standing I'm just unsure on how to get them to stand with him being 2years and all.

| Another type of glue that works well is false eyelash glue

| No, she still has plenty of time before her ears perk up..some do it earlier than others and then some don't ever do it...Either way they are just precious and adorable, ya gotta love em..

| I taped Jimmys ear with painters tape. Just fold it long ways so the tip of the ^ is in the middle. Should be good to go by the end of the day. There is a video of it posted on this forum a couple of times.
