| Poor little Mack, he's been through a lot & poor Macks mommy too. I bet he will be fine in the A.M. but if he's still having trouble in the A.M. you probably ought to take him in just to be safe. He could have taken in some bird poo or something like that & got a little bacteria. I will be praying for him to all better by morning. I know how my heart sinks every time you post something is wrong with him so I can only imagine what you are going through. |

| Could he possibly have gotten into the puppy's food? Stomach upsets are usually the result of eating something they are not used to. I have given my pets some Culturelle sprinkled on their food when their tummy's are a bit off. It is a probiotic that tends to get the stomach enzymes back to normal. If that doesn't work and you see no improvements I would have him checked out. Hope things are going well with the new one. |

He did good throughout the night. He's not distressed...he doesn't act sick... He's most likely fine... I'm just paranoid I guess!

| One thing I do when Harley has one of his episodes is I have a bottle of non-flavored pediatric electrolytes, I syringe this to him (or if he'll drink it I put it in a bowl) usually I give him 1ml (slowly) every couple of hours. It assures you he's hydrated, and the vets always told me this was a good way to help stabilize him. I'd also give some neutra-cal The other thing I do when Harley has episodes is take his temperature frequently. If it moves from normal then I get concerned (but that means you need to know what normal is). The only thing to watch is make sure that you retest the temp if the thermometer comes out with poo on it (if you do a rectal temperature) because then you tested the poo's temp and not his. These two things have saved me a lot of money, simply because then I know what I'm capable of handling. Harley has IBD and thus little things trigger episodes with him, and he spent 3 months really sick a while back. Now we have him almost under control. Keep us posted on Mack, I know he's very fragile. The beauty of the two things above is none of it would hurt him, so it's good to give if you're anxious about him being sick. Also remember if you're worried around him, that could be making his upset tummy worse, so try to be as normal as possible.

| Hope that Mack is better this morning. With our little ones we must be a little more worried than we are with are big dogs when they don't eat or have loose stool. They can get dehydrated much quicker and losing weight is much more significant when their normal weight is 5-6 pounds as opposed to 50 or 60 pounds. If he is not better, I would take him to see the vet. Last edited by gryhndnut; 01-08-2012 at 05:56 AM. Reason: forgot words! |

| Sending up healing prayers for Mack and praying to give you strength...since he acts normal he may just have a a little tummy upset and great advice has been given. Take care.
