| Yeah, I think the most disturbing one for me at least is the very last one where you can see her whole matted body. I mean I don't blame anyone for getting upset over the pictures, I was disturbed by them at first too but once I read that she is getting help and has someone willing to foster her, I felt a lot better. I liked that they showed the first picture first cause even though she had to get all shaved down, she looks kind of content laying there. It's like she knows she's finally going to get some love!

| Here is an update on Jenny, This little one has the will to live and every day improves more and more. Thank you to anyone who made donations. Update below : --- WHITBY -- Jenny, an emaciated dog discovered in a Whitby shed by animal rescue officials recently, has gained weight and is well on the way to making a full recovery. "If you saw her now, compared to the day she walked in, you would never say it was even remotely the same dog," says Ruby Richards, animal health co-ordinator with the Humane Society of Durham Region. "She's nearly doubled in weight, she's clean, happy, and full of energy." The 12-year-old Yorkshire terrier, named Jenny by staff at a local animal clinic, was less than six pounds when a tip led to its discovery in an unheated shed in Whitby on Dec. 29. Animal cruelty investigator Debby Houghton described the condition the dog was found in as "horrific" and one of the worst cases she's ever come across. "We see cases of animal neglect and abuse every day but this is one of the most extreme," she said. The starving and dehydrated dog could barely move and was close to death. It had lost a considerable amount of hair and there was blood coming from its mouth. Both its eyes were completely closed due to crusty pus, large amounts of pus were oozing from its ears and fur was tangled in its teeth. When the dog was assessed by a veterinarian and fur was removed from its mouth, some of its teeth fell out. Since the rescue, Jenny now weighs 9.2 pounds and isn't showing any signs of abuse. "She's got tons of attitude and has turned into a little princess," laughs Ms. Richards. "When she walked in the door of the vet clinic this morning with one of the technicians who's fostering her, she came in with her little coat on looking like a normal little dog." Shelter staff has stopped accepting applications from people interested in adopting Jenny and is currently sifting through the numerous requests that poured in last week. "We've actually taken as many applications as we're going to because we had so many come in from all over but it's going to be at least another week before she is adopted," says Ms. Richards, adding that there are currently 17 other dogs at the shelter also in need of permanent homes. "We want people to know that if they are really serious about giving a dog a second chance, they should check out their local animal shelters because there are lots of animals in need." About $5,000 has already been donated to the shelter from the public to offset Jenny's medical expenses. The case is still under investigation with charges pending.

| Yay! So glad to hear she is doing a lot better. It's crazy how some dogs can bounce back from something like that.

| she's not a Yorkie, she's a mix breed terrier, not that it makes any difference. Isn't it attrocious. I have written to Durham Humane society to find out how my friends and I can donate to help pay for her medical bills. No response yet |

| How wonderful she is getting the help she needs and that all the donations are going to also help all the other dogs at the shelter as well. A sad story is getting a better ending or is that a new beginning. Go Jenny!
