The next time someone tells you a lost dog is neglected....... 1 Attachment(s) Beautiful Annabelle, lost for just a short time, is proof positive appearances can be deceiving. A missing pet's shiny groomed coat can quickly become matted and dirty. The dog may not look anything like his/her posted photo. Remember this when looking for a lost dog. Make note of any distinguishing marks or color patterns when comparing lost and found photos. (like a pretty pink nose). |

Oh my gosh!:( Unbelievable, can't even imagine what the poor pup went through in one day & night-and what others go through in a lot more time than that.:( |
Wow! It just really goes to show that you can't judge a book by its cover. Thankfully Annabelle was returned home! |
That is pitiful!:( A very good thing to remember if we ever find any little lost pups. |
Wow! What a difference a lil running in fields and digging in mud can make, huh? |
I'm glad sweet Annabelle made it safely home! I can guarantee Levi would look like a ragamuffin very quickly if he were to ever get lost. That's one of my greatest fears - that someone will assume he is neglected because he gets dirty/matted quickly. |
Oh my gosh! This is so powerful. It should be in the library, the rescue forum, and also tagged onto any of the "finding a lost dog" threads that are on here. I may not get to it today, but let me know if you have certain threads in mind where we could put this. |
I agree, this needs to be a permanent reference. Very powerful. This would be my guys within less than 24 hours. I'm glad Annabelle is home. |
Everytime my girls play in the mud- or get wet at all I always say they look like 'drown rats' (not intirely sure that's one of your sayings, so I may just sound crazy) but yet I never would have thought to not use a pretty picture of her if she got lost! And I'm sure I'm not the only one! Guess next time they get all muddied up the camera will have to come out- a few scraggly pictures of each could (god forbid) save them when lost!! |
Wow, I can think of at least two other recent threads where people were convinced the found dog had been abused because of its appearance, these photos would have been powerful evidence that this isn't always the case. I agree with the others, these needs to go in the library. |
Wow!! I found a little yorkie a couple of years ago... She too was filthy and matted. I bathed her, combed her, fed her, and looked for her mommy. It was only a day later our local police helped reunite them... She too had only been missing a couple of days when I found her in that condition! |
Great example! SO happy she made it home safely!!! |
OH, wow, so happy she is home safe.. hugs, |
Thank you for posting this, Jodi! So many people do not realize how bad a pup can look in a short period of time on the streets...they assume the pup has been out for a long time and/or not cared for. |
WOW that was an eye opener. |
Wow, I'm glad Annabelle is back home! She looked like a completely different dog... |

Poor Annabelle! She must have had quite a time while she was gone! |
WOW! Thank you for posting this megansmomma...I just shared this thread on an old thread...hopefully it helps! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...k-porch-4.html |
That is an eyeopener for sure. I am so glad that Annabelle was reunited with her family. I can only imagine what condition Jada and Bogie would be in if they were to be outside for an hour or so. Probably worse than poor Annabelle:( |

The drastic change in Annabelle really makes your point! So glad she was found  |
Good informative thread |
Buster needs to be brushed everyday. If I miss a day of brushing him or cleaning his eyes, he could pass for a neglected dog if he got lost. I can\'t imagine him getting away and someone else assuming he\'s neglected and unwanted and not trying to find me. |
Bumping up! |
Great reminder that you don\'t know the whole story by what you see on the surface. One time my Tiki and Meika chased my daughter\'s cat under her house and when I finally got them out a half hour later, they were full of weeds, wet and muddy, and I could hardly recognize them myself. |
Exactly. After my girls play in the mud and ponds they look horrible! |
