Exactly . . . Thanks for posting this. . .we should all take those hot mess pictures and drowned rat pictures. It might bring our babies home sooner !

Mine looked like that after a bath! The most important thing is getting the pups home, rarely is a lost dog, a little lost dog, not someone's baby....

Oh let's play I volunteer at my shelter card, really that is just so tacky. I have more volunteer hours than you will ever hope to have. I have been a volunteer in dog rescue for the past 50+ years and I never found it necessary to toot my own horn. You and your friends are fake and mean spirited. I would not want you around any dogs for any reason. You do not advocate for pups, you advocate for yourself and how to make people feel bad.

Ummm, I've only been doing it for a very short while so my I don't really have a horn to toot, I'm grateful that where I do work everyone collectively trys, and is often successful, in finding lost pups families....I'm also grateful that the folks I work with, that like you have a ton of experience, haven't lost their passion and that none of them have lost sight of what its really all about, getting the pups home, to the families who love them and getting the others placed in suitable, loving homes. At the end of the day, that's all that counts.

I decided to work at this shelter because the person who found my pup and the shelter themselves did everything they could to locate my lost pups family, I was so grateful that she was found I felt I had to do something to pay it forward...

OMG this is absolutely unreal. I don't usually play in to the drama on here but this is completely out of control. Enough is enough. Sometimes it is best to stop and take a look them walk away. This pot continues to be stirred. What does it accomplish?

I've been at the sharp end of the stick with both Lynzy and Megansmomma (and others--you know who you are :)) in the past, but in the end, I've realized that they are both passionate, intelligent people with hearts a mile wide. My Bella is better off for it, and that's what's important to me.

Those pictures were from one of the many FB pages that I "liked" on FB. since everyone doesn't have FB access I just reposted the information and pictures here. They are not made up by me and it seems a little far fetched that I'd be able to set something up like that years prior. :rolleyes:

i just had to add this picture. Sissy was out in the yard after a rain storm. This is what she looked like after participating in her favorite pass time......rolling in worms.

not to highjack this thread but this was no more than 10 minutes?

Sissy looks like a hot mess little Tomboy and a perfect example of how quickly they can look homeless.

OMG, lol! Looks like she had quite the par-tee!

It is amazing (and scary) how awful a dog (esp those w/ long hair!!!) can look after just a short time.

We live outside of town in a very wooded area. I can only imagine how horrible Gracie would look if she ever got loose for even a short time. As it is I have to give her a good combing when we come in from walks during the fall due to all the leaves that attach themselves to her fur.

I have taken in many strays over my lifetime. It is tricky business finding owners but a good owner is usually frantic to find their baby as soon as possible. A dog that is pretty well behaved usually belongs to someone who has spent some time training their pet so you can bet that pet would love to be home with their family.

There are lots of ways to detect things about a stray but just looking at the condition of their coat is not a way to determine it's background.

I loved this posting. Obviously the message is, don't jump to quick conclusions on the history of a dog.

A more detailed examination of the health of the dog ( by your vet) will help you to understand more clearly if a dog has been abused.

Unless anyone of my dogs get lost moments after grooming and gets found right away mine too could look like a neglected doggie.

Bet I am on the "list" of people with pitchforks; :hide2: but I truly only mean to protect the pups in most cases.
We all bring something to the table here and that is why YT works! :)

What a great post. Shows what an evolved and mature and confident/centered person you are. Wish everyone here had this kind of insight. I've been on the very sharp end of sticks at times during my time here, believe me, but I think it's just the *best* when you can somehow learn from it, get past it, and move forward in peace and commonality. Bc even when things get overly/too passionate here, the bottom line is it's almost always wrapped in good intentions. And yup, most people here have hearts that are miles wide :love:!

Yeah ;). But again, it was a stick, not a pitchfork, and more of a gentle nudge than a sharp poke. You caused me to question my choices and my vet more thoroughly than I would have otherwise... and Bella is doing well as a result :).

I'm loving the suggestion of having "drowned rat" and "hot mess" pictures of our babies along with the perfectly coiffed ones, you know, in case they're ever needed. I have drowned rat ones (Kaji looks 5 lbs lighter with his hair weighed down. :p) but I can't seem to find any hot mess ones in my archive. Is this "look" easily accomplished by the longer haired pups?

Think I'll have to let Piccolo and Piper play outside for a while, take some before and after pictures. Out in the country a dog can get pretty nasty in the blink of an eye.

The hot mess is not difficult with my two. One or two days of missed brushing and a messy top knot and they look homeless :p
