| Games Yorkies play I have another friend whose Yorkie does this too...my Yorkie comes over to the couch or bed to be picked up, then when I bend down to get her she backs away. She does this several times until I "quit" & ignore her. Then she barks until I pick her up. It reminds me of my human children's game of throwing toys out of the stroller for me to pick up. But it's annoying! Does anyone know why they do this? (she can't get up to these areas herself). |

| my yorkie Sonic does this, so what I did was put a small step stool I use around the house by the couch so Sonic can use it to get on the couch..*he used to use the step stool all the time* Mind you Sonic can jump on the couch he does it all the time, well few days ago sonic barks wanting on the couch, I go to pick him up and he runs so i go get the step stool for him put it by the couch, what does sonic do?!? he sniffs the stool and jumps on the couch without using the stool, I was like Sonic! and started laughing. So even though he can jump on the couch, he barks to get on the couch and runs, he is getting better about running from me, he starting to rare up on the couch for me to pick him up.. |

| Mia will jump down apparently just so I will pick her up again. She knows to either stand on hind legs for 2-handed or circle round for the 1-hand-under chest 'liff-up' and Brody plays the 'Gingerbread Man' ('catch me if you can') game. It is obvious he's playing...he goes down on front 'play' paws...with a happy expression and twinkling eyes. He'll play the game just about any time. H also will ask to be picked up...not for bed, though...then run just far enough you can't reach them, then repeat. They both drop toys off the bed and sofas then stand with head over the edge, and look between the toy and me as if to say "fetch...good girl" then do it again after I get the toy. Brody will look back and forth between me and my water...he prefers sharing my mug...but he will look back and forth between me and his/their mug, too...wanting me to fetch the mug up from the floor so he can drink. They are such adorable little imps...could charm a heart of stone!

| Chloe does this too. She "asks" to be picked up, then when I bend to get her, she backs off. Sometimes she does this several times until I give up altogether. I guess she enjoys it but it sure is frustrating.

| Kiko does that when she wants in my bed in the middle of the night. She is getting better about it because, when she doesn't come back over right away to get picked up, I've started rolling over (away from the edge of the bed) and telling her to go back to her bed . So when she asks again a little later in the night, she'll still back away, but comes right back and waits to be picked up. Hopefully some night soon she will just wait to be picked up after she asks. |
