| Is my yorkie sick? Hello I'm new at this yorkie thing I never owned a yorkie until about a month ago his name is max and he is only about 3 months old he is super tiny and skinny. We have been trying to fatten him up because when you pet him you can feel his ribs. We took him to be vet and Max got dewormed three weeks ago he did have worms because I saw them in his stool. He was really sad and down after the vet so I gave him so syrup (the breeder told me to) after that he was back to himself. These past few days however he has been down again and all he does is sleep and this is not like him usually all he wants to do is play and bite. I don't know what could possibly be wrong I am very worried I still give him syrup when he is down and it helps for a little but then he is back to big sad and tired. Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on what could be wrong with my baby? Please and thanks |

| What syrup are you giving him? Definately you should go and see a good vet, if puppy sleeps and doesn't want to play - it a sign of disease.

| Are you giving him karo syrup or nutrilcal? You might want to make sure he is eating and drinking enough, he might be dehydrated you can check by looking at his gums(they should be pink) if they are greyish this is a bad sign, also you can pull on the skin on the back of his neck, if is bounces right back its good, if it stays its bad. I definately agree you should take him to the vet asap, these little ones can go downhill very fast and it is not normal for a puppy to just want to sleep all day!

| I do hope that you are at the vet with your baby rite now. It sounds like your baby is suffering from hypoglycemia & possibly other things. You should be feeding him a minimum of 3 times a day & if he's a tiny one then offer him food several times a day. I would not use syrup but instead give nutra-cal as it has the vitamins that he needs if he's not eating well. I'll be praying that your baby will be ok. A good vet is a must with these little ones & preferably one that knows all about the conditions yorkies can develope. Welcome to YT! & Please update when you can. |

| Oh ok. I googled VCA hospital and the one I found was in Castle Shannon. Is that the one you were looking at? I looked at their website and read some of the reviews online. It is a very mixed crowd of people who like it and people who think it's over priced and the staff is inconsiderate. You can read the reviews online at VCA Castle Shannon Animal Hospital - Pittsburgh, PA, 15234 - Citysearch and VCA Castle Shannon Animal Hospital - Pittsburgh, PA I googled South Hills, PA Vet and I found this place South Hills Animal Hospital - Pittsburgh, PA, 15234 - Citysearch South Hills Animal Hospital. They have gotten a few positive reviews. The Always Compassionate Veterinary Care in Whitehall was also recommended. Their website is Always Compassionate Veterinary Care and they are open until 8pm tonight. Also, don't be afraid to ask friends/neighbors in the area where they take their pets. I'd probably stay away from VCA Castle-Shannon due to the number of negative reviews but would look into giving either South Hills Animal Hospital or Always Compasionate Veterinary Care a try.
