| Help?!?! Hey all! I am a brand new owner of a 2 year old female yorkie. I noticed when I gave her a bath last night that there was hair all over the bottom of the tub. Also, it is all over her blanket in her crate. The owners that had her previously said that she still has her puppy coat. Is this normal for her to have it so long? I know that they will shed when their adult coat starts to come in, and also when they are under stress. I brought her home on the plane yesterday, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. How will I know if it is the stress from the plane ride, her adult coat coming in, or something more serious? Any ideas? Thanks!!!! |

| Seems odd to me. Our Oz is 9 months old and he does not shed at ALL. Could be stress, I guess. Personally, I would be taking her to the vet if you're 100% sure she's a pure yorkie, but they should not shed, and I am not buying a "puppy coat" at 2 yrs old.

| At 2 yrs she has an adult coat. You need to take her to the vet to be evaluated she could have a skin disorder that is leading to the hair loss. Yorkies dont shed

| Thanks Thanks! I have to make an appointment with the vet anyways to get her fixed. I will definitely see what they have to say about her coat. And maybe by then the stress of coming to a new home and meeting our other dog will be over. |

| I've seen a video recently of a Yorkie "shedding" on youtube...I can't find it now but if anyone else does please post it. What came to mind for me was WOW that Yorkie has never been brushed before in it's life! Non-shedding dogs loose hair at the same rate as people do-a few stands die and fall out over time-however just like people if you don't brush then when you shampoo or do brush you seem like you are loosing a lot of hair... I'd be more concerned about this after a few days of regular brushing and grooming and noticing the condition of the skin.

| Good news! Leia stopped shedding. Well, it isn't as noticeable as before. I have a malti-poo as well, and he sheds very little. It all comes out in his brush. I guess it was just the stress of flying. Who knows. Thanks for all of your help! |

| I'm glad she is doing better. I think it was the stress too! We joke that my husband sheds more than both our yorkies combined! |
