I don't feel any dog should be shunned because they are not a purebred Yorkie, or even if they are not a Yorkie at all.

This is a great site with a lot of good information and knowledgeable dog owners.

BTW, my son has a Morkie and she's a wonderful little dog!

I have 2 yorkies and my daughter has a Morkie. Photos in our album. No shunning from me.

I just am not on here much anymore since I went back to work.

I respect the anger over breeders purposely breeding mixed pets when there are many of these in the shelters. I don't share that opinion/anger but I respect it. She's fast asleep right now, but will probably be awake for more action in a couple of hours. I have her on a schedule (my schedule) =/

6am wake up
10am naptime (she falls asleep on her own by this time anyway)
1 pm wake up
5pm naptime
9pm wake up
Midnight time for bed!

I'm sure her schedule will change as she gets older and doesn't sleep so much, but for now it works well for both of us.

I do have a question that may sound a bit selfish. My husband works from 6am until 3:30pm-4pm. He arrives home and she goes absolutely bananas. She wants him to pick her up, hold her, kiss her, play with her, etc. She dances around his feet like she's just seen the best thing since Orijen.

Every evening she's right at his feet chewing her toys, and when I attempt to play with her she just looks at me funny and tilts her head. He doesn't feed her, doesn't bathe her, doesn't take care of her, etc. She's basically my puppy (we got her for me) lol. I'm wondering, since I'm the one home with her all day playing with her, loving on her, teaching her things, giving her treats, and pretty much spoiling her rotten; how come when he's home (which is only in the evenings) does she want him so much? It hurts my feelings a little bit. I mean, I DO want her to like my husband (of course), but is she a daddy's girl or something? I don't see how that is possible when he's rarely home. It just doesn't make any sense. He does nothing for her; I do everything (by choice)...yet when he's home, Mommy doesn't exist. Why is this happening?

Is it normal for me to feel a little 'put out' by this? I'm not angry with her and I don't resent her (she's just a puppy, and an adorable one at that). Being angry with her would mean I'd need some serious counseling, lol. I'm simply a tad upset that I do so much for her, yet she wants nothing to do with me when my husband's home.

(I should point out that all day long she's very affectionate, playful with me, sitting at my feet, napping on my chest, etc)

Just a few things...

In regards to mixed breeds.... what happens is when breeds are mixed, then genetics from both breeds are introduced into the gene pool. This could lead to the decline in health of the breed (as the offspring are bred again & again). All breeds have genetic flaws, if you will, Yorkies are known to have bad teeth, Maltese are prone to deafness. You mix the two together and you could end up with an aging pup who has a hard time eating and hearing. That's just a thought. The decline of the Golden Retriever breed is an example of the decline of health in a breed due to overbreeding, mixed breeding and obviously bad breeding. It's just a sad situation.

But your baby is adorable and you would not be shunned here at all.

As for your little girl loving your husband... well I find that boys are generally more affectionate, especially to female owners. I have 2 boys and they are soooo attached to me that when I'm in the room no one can hold them, they fight tooth and nail to get back to me or stare longingly at me until they can make a break from their captor to get back to me. haha They are too funny. I think girls tend to me more attached to male owners. I am not sure the whys of this at all, but Ive read a lot on here and this seems to be a common behavior. I would say Morkies are like Lays potato chips, you can never have just one, so get yourself a boy and you'll have your companion and lapdog for sure! Plus you'll have company for your little girl.

As for the toy shaking....my Fletcher goes NUTS when I get home from work and whips his toy while furiously growling. I sometimes wonder if he had a bad day and hes taking his aggression out now that I'm home. or if he's just soooo overjoyed that I'm finally home that he has to tear something up! Either way it crack me up! My Dexter hardly ever plays with toys.

I have a Schnorkie (miniature schnauzer Yorkie mix) of course a Tricolored Yorkie and a white (blond) miniature schnazuer too-we're a pack of misfits around here!

If you feel any bit shunned over your dog's background realize most people here are just very strong in their beliefs about breed preservation and the type of breeding that should be financially supported-it's not really at you as much the people who breed these dogs-but to each their own!

IMHO it's all about the health, responsible breeding in treatment and placement of the animals. Although I prefer to see purebreds with AKC papers as to strive per a greater goal in breeding responsibility...

Besides you'll quickly realize the ppl really getting shunned are those who practice unethical breeding and deny their dog's antiquate treatment and medical care.

Morkies are quite common on here and very welcomed!

Yes! far too many times things have gotten ridiculously serious...then I read his posts and it's all back in perspective!

Although the first few posts I read form him I was like

I know what you mean... I feed, bathe, play, etc., but for some reason my two boys, Max and Marley, are very attached to my sister (and roommate). Marley is such a people pleaser -- he even looks up at me as if to say, "I'll sit on your lap in a minute -- just not now while my Shurdee is home...." Shirley says it's because she likes to lay in her room and watch tv, and I'm always moving around and am never still. Anyway, if they're happy, it doesn't really matter, but sometimes it hurts a little bit.
