| favoring hind leg Gizmo is almost 8 months old, and 2 days ago he started to favor his left hind leg. But only sometimes. He tends to not walk on it, He will run and jump with it. At first I thought it was stiff from sleeping, but now he has started doing it to the right side this morning. I am waiting for the vet to open then I will call. Just checking if anyone has ideas?????

| First, I'd check for LP (luxating patellas). Has he injured himself to your knowledge any time lately, slipping/falling/etc? I also always like to add that, even though it may be rare, I remember when Jackson came up limping one day and thought it was so odd. It ended up being Lymes disease that he tested positive for which was causing his joints pain. Just something else to test for if it's not LP.

| It could be luxatting patella or he could have injured it but i would definitely have the vet check it out. Good luck I will keep him in my prayers. Please let us know how it goes.

| My Gizmo had a little bit of a limp once when I brought him home from doggy daycare. It seemed to clear up the next day. However, when I was inspecting his tootsies like I do every morning, I noticed he had an infected little lump on his one toe. Took him into the vet, got him on antibiotics, and soaked it daily in warm salt water and it cleared up. Not saying that's what your Gizmo has, but limping can be anything from an LP to a hurt toe.

| Vet time. Some very major and some very minor things can make Yorkies limp. It might just be a torn toenail, something in the paw pad, muscle strain, etc. Every limping Yorkie also has to be assessed for the more major problems sometimes seen (luxating patella, legg calve perthes, torn CCL). Good news is it's generally all fixable.

| Update!!! We will see the Vet on Monday!! The poor little guy already has a crooked front leg. Poor thing is just going to be a gimp. We got him from another family at 4 months old after a few days he started to favor his front leg, we never saw him get hurt. We called the vet and they said to give it a the weekend and see how he was on monday. When monday came around we could see this leg was crooked when he stood on it. Took him in and they checked him all over and said he had am old break that did not get set there for it is growing crooked. It does not bother him at all. I was told after he is done growing we can take him in and they can break it and pin it, if we choose. Or we can have a cute gimpy puppy. We will see. I will let you know Monday what we find!

| We have had several dogs most have been hunting dogs. We had a mini schnauzer, but this is our first yorkie. Over the years we have been to the Emergancy Vet several times. Our dogs are like our kids, and we do what we can to keep them safe. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to give some advise.
