| First time at the groomers Suggestions Gizmo has his first appt. at the groomers this Wednesday. Is there anything I should make sure I ask for? It appears to me his wiry puppy hair is growing out and softer hair is growing in. My goal is to grow his hair long as soon as possible. I am hoping that all the wiry puppy hair will go away but since he is a mix that maybe not happen. I was thinking of just having her give him a bath and only trim where needed to give him more do a Yorkie look. I also plan to ask her opinion on what type of dog he is. She is a mobile groomer who has over 30 years experience. My next door neighbors uses and love her. The minminun she charges to come to your house is $45.00 but since I am disabled I figured it was worth it. She told me if this is truly his first time he probably not going to like it but would get use to it. He allows me to brush and comb him with no problem so depending on how he likes a bath he should be OK. Any suggestions or hints would be appreciated.

| I would be very specific on what type of cut you want. I wanted a "trim" and to clean up the face, paws and rear end. He came back looking like a squirrel. Big lesson learned for me. I am also considering a mobile groomer, please post how your experience was after the appt.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I agree! It may be helpful to look at pics here of other babies that have similar coats so that you can show the groomer what you'd like. Barring that, be sure to talk to them prior to them picking up the shears or you may not like the results. The good thing is, it's hair & will grow back but it takes some time.

| Absolutely! And also, the first time might be a case of what they can do, rather than what you (eventually! ) want done! 'Over here' - the first trip to the groomers is very much a case of getting your Littlie used to all the new smells, sights, and sounds. It's almost a trial run, letting them look at the scissors, hear the clippers, a different method of bathing etc. I know they all vary drastically, but - as with everything - communication and trust are the keys. Talk it all through first, stay if you can - and good luck! Sally + Harry x |

| Now Chachi the first time he went to a groomer he acted up so since then we always prepare him by touching his nails, taking him in the bathroom and turning on the hair dryer, we have even taken clippers by his hair but just to prepare him for the noise. I good thing to do also is to show the groomer a picture of the cut you want

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I too looked at many pix of all the adorable furbabies here on YT before we went to the groomer for the first time with Katie Scarlett. I saved the pix to my phone to show the groomer what look I would like to go for. This really helped me because I was not sure of the proper terms used by groomers. Hope the first grooming goes well!

| Thanks for all your suggestions. I comb him every day sometimes twice but have gotten him wet. Will try exposing him to a blow dryer.
