LOL Good greif, we have done this so many times. I stomp around saying please spay and neuter,I even step on some toes, when I have to, I write pages of advice, we google and share facts. But this still happens, people breed dogs without a clue of what could happen. I did the little quote this time to remind myself, to just shut up and let some one else explain. My patients was not very strong today. And the good Lord knows I need kindness and patients, to say it again and again, and again. Guess I was just tired today. |

Dear Newbies, Most of us are so dedicated to our dear little furbutts that we would literally kill anyone that deliberately hurt them. I sincerely mean that - it might be in a fit of rage and grief but it would happen. Please see that we have compassion for your dog - not you. We will at first nudge you to make the right decision but if you refuse to listen then all bets are off. We will tell you what we think. If you want a puppy for Pete's sake go buy one from a good breeder. You don't have to make your own! Dear Newbie Defender, I understand your concern but when you have been on here as long as us you will also get tired of trying to talk new owners out of breeding. You can't imagine the expense and heartbreak this owner is in for. I only hope that little one can get through it OK. I guess it could happen but the odds are against it with a novice in charge. L |
Lou, I was not defending the OP or her position. I liked Susan Fords post as the best way to pursuade another towards the possibility of taking and adopting someone elses viewpoint. I was responding to Susans post. |
I come to this forum on rare occasions just to look around~and I never stay for long because a lot of posters are extremely judgmental and rude. Guess what people, the original OP probably read the first few posts and decided that the help they were seeking was not going to be found here. I'm sure she won't be back to read all of your rude comments so you might as well go pick on someone else as I'm sure you've already scared her away instead of helping her and her dog. This site does have very useful and helpful information on it if the person is brave enough to look around for it, but most people would just leave and never come back. Sorry, I usually keep quiet but it just saddens me that people come here looking for help and instead they get told what a horrible person they are, over and over again, every reply is the same, isn't once enough? |

"I understand your concern but when you have been on here as long as us you will also get tired of trying to talk new owners out of breeding. You can't imagine the expense and heartbreak this owner is in for." I was a newbie myself when I came here for help. I brought a little seven week old yorkie home. The next day she was sick and that night she nearly died. I was kindly told that she was too young to leave her mother and to return her. It wasn't an option at the time. I was then given strick instructions to take her to an emergency clinic. I did and they saved her life - BECAUSE I LISTENED TO THE ADVICE I WAS GIVEN. For the next two weeks I was on here every day giving progress reports and feeding tips to help my little Adie grow strong and beat her illness. I became a loyal member of this board and became friends with these "Rude" people you criticize. When kind words and treatment fail to get through the only recourse is stern advice. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. And NOBODY called the OP a horrible person. |

Justamom/Nancy... I'm confused. I think she got a LOT of help on that first page. Carmen gave her a whole list. Others gave her other info too. All in all though she got the advice/help she NEEDED even if wasn't what she WANTED. You're right she may have read the replies and left because she wasn't getting the help she WANTED, but guess how many of us are going to help a person become a backyard breeder? None. The best advice was given... SPAY THE DOG for the sake of the dog, the puppies, and the overpopulation of unwanted animals. That was HELP FOR THE DOG. That was the best help and advice this OP could have been given for her dog. |

Please don't put your female with the male again. If she ovulates during that mating she could conceive another pup that is not the same age as the ones previously conceived. Meaning she would have puppies that are not all the same age and not ready to deliver at the same time. Making puppies is a lot more involved than just putting two dogs together to mate. Please read about what you are doing. There are breeders that have spent a lifetime learning what they know about dog breeding and are still do not know it all. |
