I'm getting a mixed breed... AND IM PROUD!!
 

I have come to know all the rules. I know all about breeding to better the breed. I know that purebred yorkies should only produce more purebred yorkies if they are genetically tested, championed, etc..... I know what should be done and what SHOULD NOT be done!! I know they are "mutts".... I know they aren't recognized by AKC.... But, guess what?? I don't care!!! (well, I do but I don't).... I also know what negative feedback I will get from this thread...and that's ok.

I have 2 purebred yorkies... One of whom is a "blue" (the love of my life). I also have a "mutt" (3/4 yorkie, 1/4 shi zoo( as I like to call it)) who is a sweet beautiful baby girl that I adore!!!! (shorkie)

And I am getting another "mutt" for my son.... A morkie( Maltese and yorkie)

Why?? Because they are still the same.... They have the same heart that a purebred would have. It still beats, still yearns for attention, still wants to be loved. I don't care that it's not a pure yorkie.... I dont care if he wasnt for the better meant of the breed.... He needs someone to
Love him, to call him their own. and that person is me!!! And when I introduce him, dont belittle me for adopting a "mutt".... Don't tell me he's an outsider... Because he will be our new baby.... No matter what. I will love him, and I hope that you all will accept him.....because it doesn't matter. He is our baby.

I also have a 1/2 maltese yorkie. I have been treated very nicely on this forum. Congrats on your new baby!

Oh a Morkie! I can't wait to see pictures! My manager at work has a morkie and little Bella is just beautiful! You are right KendraE, they still need someone to love them and take care of them... Congrats on your addition!:D

Good for you! I'm happy for you. Can't wait to see pics! My friend has a yorkie/pom and Pnut and myself are in love with him! Yes Pnut is a tad metro!!

I think it is awesome. Purebreds are fine, but a good mix is great. Way to go!

Congratulations and best wishes. Though I've only been here a short time, I like the vibe and havent come across anyone too pretentious. Unlike 10 yrs ago when I joined another Talk geared to Whippet owners (my first purebred) and one of the dowager empresses there called my house full of x-racing greyhounds "TRACK TRASH". I politely enquired as to the poster's pedigree and social status, to which of course, there was no response from SHE, but a hearty round of HERE HEREs !!!! from other minions such as myself.

BREEDING do tell every time.

Congrats and I have had several mutts and they all have been loved just the same..Prissy is Yorkie but I got her to be a part of our family,,,no breeding for her...btw, I have never met a pupster that I didn't love...

Why would anyone belittle you? I myself have 3 Yorkie-Poo's and a Silky. only one purebred Yorkie and she is a foster. I love my MUTTS. Congrats and best of luck.

I don't think it's a terrible thing that you are getting a mixed breed,,,as you said....they need loving too! My parents have a maltipoo and she is the nicest cutest little girl....good luck with you new furbutt! bet you are excited!!!

Congratulations! I think Morkies are the best of both breeds...I met one last week in the pet store, and she was the sweetest little baby. Yorkie face and body, maltese coloring and tail. And what is the first thing she did? Greeted me with sweet little puppy kisses! Since then I have decided I may get one if I'm ever ready for another dog.

Btw, I think when people use "mutt" it is such an inappropriate slang term. I prefer mixed breed or mongrel (the proper word). I'm italian, and wouldn't appreciate being called a 'ginny' or 'wop'.

Congratulations!!!! It doesn't matter if your new pup is a mixed breed or a pure breed. You have so much love to give to him and you will have another wonderful addition to your family. Can't wait to see pictures!
