| Should I be concerned At night Brandi and I have our little routine, she jumps in the bed and watches tv or goes to sleep while I take a shower. She usually stays there until she has to go potty which is usually around 12. She goes potty (potty pad trained)and then comes back up to bed and goes back to sleep for the rest of the night. Lately the last few nights she has been in a very playful kind of mood. First she wants me to follow her downstairs, which creeps me out because now I'm thinking someone is in the house. So I follow her downstairs only to figure out that she wants to play. When I call her name she comes running towards me that when I reach out for she takes off running again, stop to see if I'm chasing her and then starts running again. What is this behavior all about? What is she trying to tell me? After about 10 minutes of this she eventually runs upstairs and is ready to go to sleep. Now she has been doing this since Sunday, it's like we are starting a new routine. I don't mind but I do know subtle changes in behavior can be a sign that something is wrong. I'm just not sure if an increase in energy could ever be a bad thing especially since it's not the norm for her. It could be just pent up energy, since the weather has gotten cooler and it gets darker earlier, I don't take her out for walks as often or as long as I usually do when the weather is warmer. I've had her for 4 yrs and she has never had pent up energy. She does not believe in over exerting herself. Who knows what's going through her silly little head. | I dont see it as anything wrong having energy is good. Maybe she is just a little bored lately and shes just got off her schedule. You said you dont walk her as often and stuff. Mine are very playful and demanding of attention in the evening during the colder months because they lay around during the day and Im not taking them on walks. She sounds like a happy, healthy. well adjusted yorkie to me

| Okay thanks I just wanted to be sure. She's usually a very laid back kind of gal. She's 11 yrs old and does have a burst of energy from time to time but not as much as she's been having them lately. Oh wait a minute, I just thought of something. I've been doing my pilates at home and she has been working out with me . Funny thing is I started doing it on Sunday which is about the time she's been having this burst of energy. Pilates for yorkies!!! Anybody who works out knows your energy level shoot straight up. Maybe this is where all this extra energy is coming from. |

| Pilates! I do know that when Chewie gets more exercise, he's more energetic in general. When we were running in the mornings (too cold now!), he bounced off the walls most of the day.

| Sounds like she need a nice long play session before bed. For ZoE, me putting my pajamas on is a sign for her to run and fetch her ball or small squeaky toy cos she knows after I'm in my jammies and have my face washed & teeth brushed, we are gonna play fetch. By the time we head to bed, she's tired and wants to sleep.

| How do you get them used to a tredmil?! We have tried it with the Bails but she HATES it. We mainly take Bailey on a walk for potty reasons. But in the winter, she sure does have a lot of pent up energy and isn't as tired as I would like her to be in the evening. In the summer, it's sun bathing all day and sleep. eat. walk. poop. sleep. And the cycle starts again! Ohhh how I miss those days |

| These little babies have tons of energy as you know. Maybe you could play a game of fetch with her before going upstairs. She obviously wants to play for a while and is not ready to just go to bed. I know when it gets dark early I would just as soon not do anything but these little energy balls need something to do. I play fetch with Gracie inside a couple of times a day when the weather is bad just to help wear off some of the energy. |

| I do play tag with her. It's her favorite game......I chased her that she chases me followed by hide and seek. I just thought her sudden burst of nighttime energy started around the time I started my pilates was kind of weird. When I'm doing my pilates she's usually jumping and running with excitement because she thinks its playtime then about 20 minutes into it she's goes and sits down and either watches me or takes a quick nap. |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | My Katie Scarlett always gets so wild before bedtime too. That is her time of day when the zoomies go into overdrive. She will run back and forth from one end of the house to the other like 15 times. Then she plays in her x pen before settling down. She is such a mess! We just let her be...until she starts barking. She only does that occasionally but we are working on the 'quiet' command.
