| Oh, I'm so sorry MarilynSue! I know how you must be hurting. It's so horrible to lose them in such a horrible way. I lost my Collie Scotty several years back. He was the perfect dog to me! I bought him at 8 weeks and from the time I got him home, he never messed on my floor one time! He was well behaved, loyal, loving and smart. At the time of his death, we had just rescued a bassett hound pup and were moving into another home. We erected a small kennel outside temporarily for them to stay in for just a few days to a week in order for us to get unpacked, etc. Both were inside pets. Scotty dug out of the kennel one night and went in search of a female that was in heat in the neighborhood. On a Sunday morning, my neighbor called me and let me know that he was lying out in their pasture. The neighbor who had the female had gut shot him. I was heartbroken and angry all at once! We went and carried my fella home. I called the neighbor and we had words, but I couldn't prove anything, so it left me frustrated and feeling as close to hate for another human being as I've ever come. You see, a few months before this my ex was out in the yard with Scotty and let him off leash. Everytime we would call him, he came right back. This time he didn't and a close neighbor called and let me know she had seen him with a pack of dogs after guess what? a female in heat. I got into my car and drove to where they were, called Scotty, and he left the group and came and got into the car with me, no hassles whatsoever! Now that was a well mannered boy! All the people would have to have done is told him to get or even just called me! They had a trigger happy son in law living there and I know he did it! I will never forget or forgive myself for him digging out even though I was fast asleep at the time and didn't know there was a female in season in my neighborhood. I could have brought him in for the duration, but never had the chance! My fondest memory of him was when he would drag my 3 year old son around by the back of his shorts,LOL. Just like the doggie and girl on the coppertan bottle! They loved each other so much!!! It hurts like heck and I wish I could say something to help ease your pain. Please feel free to PM me anytime you need to talk! Our babies love us unconditionally and you can't put a price on that, be it human or fur baby! We are all here for you and understand how bad your hurting. Saying prayers for you and the wee little one too, Rest in Peace sweet baby! Love and Light, Eva |
