Donating YT 500 Club Member | Bells on Collars I have always had a bell on Taycie's collar. I like knowing where she is and it does help when she is standing by my feet so I don't trip on her. Because she is so little I have taken to buying a few cat collars as well. They are inexpensive and super cute and they come with a bell. As for some of the dog collars they don't have a bell so I buy bells at the kitty section at petsmart. My question is... the bell's outer layer rubs off quickly and ends up looking rather dull. Any ideas on how to prevent that from happening?? I was thinking of painting it with Clear fingernail polish.. but that will only last so long as well. I know.. strange question... just thought I would ask.

| Buy stainless steel bells. Polish ever so often. Fingernail polish will flake off and then your dog will eat it so unless you are using a nontoxic child safe human polish it is potentially harmful to your dog. There are some animal safe substitutes for polyurethane/clear coat on the market check your local hardware store for what's available in your area.

| I buy the little pkg of 3 bells by Lil Pals- the finish still wears off after quite awhile but smoothly and the bell is a nice shape. I have Ziva with a light aluminum tag and bell and Abby just has a bell so I can tell them apart! Let us know if you find someone who makes a pretty solid stainless bell small enough! |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | What a great idea to use a bell! I need to do that! We are always afraid of stepping on Katie Scarlett. She loves to be right at your feet.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I love it! I feel like it animates her.. almost like she is talking to me. When I don't have one on her, it drives me crazy.. I just like the added comfort knowing where she is.. and if she is somewhere where she isn't supposed to be

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I am going to look in the craft section... even if I buy like a 100 pack and they get dingy I can just trade them out, it will be alot cheaper then continually buying the ones at Petsmart.

| I love bells and can't live without them. I also bought the 3 pack of the Lil Pals bells in silver. If you want a colored bell, you'd have to get an anodized one, otherwise, yes the color will eventually come off.
