I got Pinkerton on January 27, 2005 and he was 850. |
Yorkies have been very popular for years according to AKC registrations. The price can also be influenced by the area in which you live. Price of course doesn't reflect quality. Most show breeders are not going to sell a show quality dog to just anyone, they tend to sell them to people whom have experience in showing or a novice whom has a mentor. If they have a potential champ they want to make sure it will be shown and finished. It seems that petshops tend to charge very high prices. It looks like many of us have dogs that were purchased from show/hobbist/breeders whom have champion bloodlines and the prices were all within a reasonable range of prices. But no mater what they cost, they were worth every cent. I know when I bought Bentley & Mia some friends thought I was nuts for paying 800.00 for a "dog". But my dogs are not just dogs, they are very loved and treasured members of my family. I love them like they are family, they are my furbabies and have brought me more joy, love and companionship than could ever be measured by money. Think about it..lets say you pay 1000.00 for a pup in 3 years time you have payed less than a dollar a day for all that fun, joy, love...it's money well spent. |
Wow, cant believe the prices you have to pay for yorkies, i'm in the UK and am collecting my 1st yorkie (buddy) next week. Ive paid £350 for him, not sure what that converts to in dollars. Just aswell they are cheaper here, looking at what everyone on here is saying, i'm gonna be hooked on this breed.... is Buddy the start of many!!! |

Scrappysmom....another Scrappy!! Wow!! |
Lucy is 3 on the 21st April and we got her in the June at about 9 weeks, I don't know if there were any champs in her family, but we got her for £200 which I think is about $350-$400 |
I am quite sure I will be getting a Yorkie. Your post interests me, as most posts are about puppies and you stated you have a 14 year-old dog. Can you please tell me if you have had good luck with this dog as it relates to vet bills? Has the dog been a healthy one? Thanks. Kate |
I paid $1800 for each of mine, I wish I knew where you guys got your for so much less cuzz I'd probably have more!!! |
I paid $500.00 for my little baby. |
I got Dollar October 22nd of this year.... and my BF paid 1000 |
Rebel was my last on and I got him the 4th of July weekend. He was $850. |
I received my Yorkie baby this past Sunday/Monday morning. I am not disclosing his price though. I have seen Yorkie prices range from $400 up to $1600 in the DC area. Down here in SC the highest I have seen them go for is $1400. I do know that just cause one costs more than the other that doesnt mean the breeding stock is better. Ask questions about the breeding techniques of that breeder if they don't volunteer it on their own. And any breeder that is not willing to show you their breeding area, living area of the puppies, is not to be trusted, in my opinion. |
We got Cappy on December 10th and we paid $725 for him.... He didn't come with papers, but both his parents are Registered so I could register him if I want to....probably wont though as he is just going to be a pet... He was the only baby in the litter...I would buy from my breeder again though becuase she has beautiful and well-tempered dogs!! |
