for you long time breeders... question: Have the demand for yorkies go up or down as the price keep on going up??? |
I also can't understand why she is charging you $3oo. to register her. They usually give you the papers you fill them out, and send them in with about $50. and that's it! Boy, don't send anyone to her!! Pat |
Nearly 14 years ago , I paid $500.00 for Zsa Zsa , I paid $900.00 for Altesse but I had a contract of giving 2 or 3 puppies back . Few months later , Altesse's breeder asked me to go to her home to break this contract because she was not interested to breed Yorkies . |
Female Yorkie On Monday 3/27, we just puchased a 7 week old, Female - Yorkie. She was the largest one and it was a Local Breeder (no shipping this time) and she was only a $1,000.00, compared to $3,000.00 for my last male "Artie". I thought that was a bargain since she had a "Champion Bloodline" on both sides of her Parents and I had a strict criteria; Straight back/topline, straight teeth, small ears, blonde or gold and silver, estimated between 5-7 pounds at adulthood. I was real specific in what I needed, I did alot of research and I wanted to make sure she was not shipped in a crate in the cargo area of some plane, not only do I find that cruelty but my last male puppy suffered and is still "Traumatized" by sight of a plastic crate....he freaks when he sees one! :( |
I Got Oreo (he's the black Yorkie) January 13th, 2005 for $300.. Because he's a mix. Yorkie/Pomeranian. Ginger on the other hand, I got her March 20th, 2005 for $1000. But not registered or anything.. even the litter wasn't registered.. I want to register Ginger, but i don't know how since i don't have any of that information.. i was going to pay 1500 for a Yorkie! but i'm glad i found Ginger. I have a Patient at work who used to have a Yorkie 15 years ago which had champion bloodlines, pedigree? for $500. |
We got Lillie 18 months ago from a breeder in Lilburn, GA for $700.00, champion bloodlines. She has two females and a male and when there is a litter her teen aged children care for the puppies. When the puppies are sold the money goes in the kids' college fund. So we felt we were giving to a good cause. |
Sebastian was my early anniversary present from my husband we got him on March 17, 2005. (March 20 is our anniversary) He paid $850.00 for him and he is estimated to be between 3-4 lbs. full grown. He is the best present my husband has EVER got me in the 9 years we have been married!! |
I got Beau on 1/21/05 and he was 700.00. |
:) got got scrappydoo february 9th 2004 my daughter and husband paid 650.00 for him |
I just got Snickers last thursday, and I paid $1800.00 for him, more than I wanted to but he is just the best and I would pay it again! :D |
We paid $525 for our AKC registered yorkie, Sully, who is now 7mo. old. He was in a litter of 3. It was just him and 2 girls. Anyway, we had searched around, mainly show-dogs and the price was looking more like 8-900. We coudlnt' afford that, no way. We saved up a long time to get Sully, but he was really worth it. We feel that the breeder, in LaFollette, TN, was a wonderful woman who was really concerned about the best of the breed and our puppy's health. I'm happy to recommend her to anyone! |
I paid $1600 for Bailey 3 weeks ago. He is show quailty with full AKC registration and a nice pedigree though :) |
We just purchased our baby and paid $1900, I know it's high but we are excited. She arrives here Friday on a plane. |
15 years ago I bought Shelbie after seeing the movie Steele Magnolias . I wanted a baby real bad so I decided to get a Yorkie. I loved Jullia Roberts in the Movie and so That is where I got her name "Shelbie" She was my dream puppy, I wanted a larger yorkie because my kids where small and I didn't want to worry about them hurting her. She was so sweet and pretty. Her full name was "Princess Shelbie of Chantilly" she was $450.00 and had several champions in her bloodline. I sure miss her :( :aimeeyork |
What is amazing to me is how many people commented that they felt the price, no matter what it was, was "worth it" in the long run for what they get in return from their yorkie. The price "up front" is such a small part of what having a yorkie is all about. It is also a small amount compared to what it will cost to feed and care for that dog for the next 15 years or so. I think that the prices vary so much because different people care about different things. Some want a show dog, some want a breeding dog, some want a pet, some want a tiny little dog that can go anywhere with them. Some want a "status symbol" kind of like cars. They want the Lexus instead of the Honda. Some care if the dog is the "perfect breed standard" and some like "unique". Everyone has to consider their budgets but, someone who has all the money in the world will pay whatever it takes to get the puppy of their dreams. Yorkies have risen in popularity recently which is bad for the price conscious and for the breed, if unscrupulous breeders add them to their list of breeds and practice unethical breeding practices at the expense of the animals. The bottom line is we all realize in the end that we loves our furbabies and we wouldn\'t trade them for anyhting in the world. That\'s just what this breed is all about!! |
