We had a dog once that didn't drink much water. The vet told us to offer her popsicles. At least that would be some fluid intake. Maybe if your patient won't eat/drink for your Dad, she would share a popsicle with him.

My dad got Callie to eat a little bit of food and drink a little more then she had but I asked him to go to the store for me and get me some wellness dog food in a can. Well he did so I grabbed the small can of Chicken and sweet potato at first she wasn't really interested but I stuck my finger in it (that was sooo gross) and she would lick it of my finger and ate about 1/3 of the small can! Hopefully that will get more water into her.

She finally went poop! The neighbors probably think I am crazy but I was happy she finally went!

When she is out of the majority of the pain and when she isn't all drugged up.... No specific time.

She grabbed the bully stick I had in her pen last night and chewed on it for awhile. Her tail is also up all the time now and she is eating and drinking good. Also we had a second poop last night and she is peeing every time I take her out for a potty break now.
