Most horrible weekend for mojo!!! & me...
I haven't been on and talked with any of you nice people since last week, and what a horrible time we've had! I took Mojo to be neutered on Friday 2 weeks ago. Many of you know that I'm new here and that Mojo was a rescue baby. He went in for his neuter that Friday, and I TRIED to discuss with the vet what he used to put pets under to do it. He came off with a know it all attitude, but did tell me what they use, and being confident his choice was safer than most for Mojo, we went ahead with it, along with some shots since I have another baby to look out for as well. Mojo came out of it all just fine, but the next Thursday we found he had developed a knot at the injection site. He also started sneezing a little. This concerned me, so I phoned them and they said to bring him in next day. Upon examination, the vet told me that Mojo was having a reaction to the shot and drained some fluid off of it. He said the sneezing was totally unrelated to the shots claiming Mojo was having allergies. He then proceeded ( without my consent ) to give him cortisone and Penicillian shots. He came from the back with Mojo after the draining and told me he had given him these!$@@%&*^#! I was miffed, but took Mojo and left for home. We were not 1/4 of a mile down the road when Mojo starts throwing up, so I turned the car around and went back. When the vet came back into the room, he threw up his hands and said "I DON'T KNOW WHY HE'S THROWING UP, MAYBE HE'S CAR SICK! WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY?" I told him that Mojo had never been car sick before and that I thought this was something he might want to know since he had just given him these shots! He told me I could leave him overnight and he could run more tests, but I refused. As I'm walking out with a very sick Mojo, he tells me to let him know if he kept throwing up. He threw up 3 more times on the way home and once after home. I called another vet and she said to keep him quiet, see if he would take Pedia-lite, and bring him in if he couldn't or if he kept throwing up. He did good with the pedia-lite and was much improved by the next morning, but late that afternoon, the original vet's office called asking about Mojo, I told them about all the times he threw up, and how he was not himself. He said to give him 1 teaspoon of pepto and bring him in if no better tomorrow! He had also given Mojo some pills to take for the allergies, but I was NOT going to give that baby those pills, and I'm happy I didn't. I can't prove it, but I'm 99% sure in my heart that it was the cortisone as he even lost bladder function that night! Needless to say, I called them up and let them know about all of it, how I felt, and that I would never go back to him, not even to pull a tick off my Mojo! He was the rudest, crudest, vet I've ever come across, and besides a know it all attitude, he could have killed my Mojo! If you ever feel uncomfortable with your babies vet for any reason, dump em and NOW! Mojo is much better now and with a brand new vet to boot! One who listens as well as talks, explains everything BEFORE she does anything, and cares about the pets she doctors! Whew! What a week for poor Mojo, and me too! We have EVERY RIGHT to question what is being done with our fur friends, and never let anyone tell you otherwise or make you feel over protective or paranoid! Some are just in it to make a buck and go home! LESSON LEARNED HERE!

WOW -- sounds like you went through a lot of crap with that first vet. How terrible. It's so nice when you can find one that you really like, respect, trust and can have good communication with.
I am glad Mojo is okay!

Been there, done that..... When Bitsy was spayed she cried all night long and when I phoned the vet in the morning I was told "she's just being a baby"
You did the right thing in going to another vet and not giving your sweet little guy any more pills from that stupid vet. Hope Mojo is all better.

What a nightmare but thank goodness the outcome is positive. So glad Mojo (and you) have a new vet who loves the babies she cares for instead of the $. Mojo is fortunate to have you as his mom ... hugs to both of you.
