Default multiple females

I see where several folks have more than one yorkie. But can anyone give me some feedback about having two females. As some may already know I have a 7.5 year old spayed female bichon and we are planning to get a yorkie puppy next year. My family really wants another female and after discussions we feel that a female will fit better into the family. Do you have major jealousy issues? Kirby is a lovable girl and she has no problems with other animals .

I wanna know about this too! I have one spayed female & am currently looking for a female puppy. I want to know how to minimize any potential problems.

I have two females. I love my girls dearly. But yes we do have some jealousy issues. We even have a fight occasionally. Thought it would stop once one proved dominance but it still happens some. However, with that said, if you really want to make it work then it will. I always thought Rosie was the most laid back Yorkie ever. But I found out when there is another female involved she can turn on the meanness! I do know of others that have no problems what so ever. Mine are 4 years old and 1 year old. I was told getting a puppy is better. Good luck!

I had three females within a year of each other. They were raised together as puppies, and I had very little problems with them accepting each other. Ashley was six months old when I got Kiwi, and we got Gracie (6 months) when Ashley was 1.5 years and Kiwi was a year. They were all very close and only occasionally had normal sibling rivalry.

I have 3 girls and they get along. Once in awhile the two will pick on Cali but nothing bad. Most times they are all laying together.

with kitty and missy it actually got bad enough to push me into moving out of my mums with kitty! they are both very dominant doggyalities (to say personalities imo is an insult on canine-kind!).
so now in my house i have kitty (dominant), toby, kuki, river and poppet... pop is coming up to her 1st heat, and i have been having problems with her and river (river being another minor dominant who was spayed preheat) but when she turns on pop i just lift them by the scruff, pin them side by side and let them sniff each other... its taking a while, but things are settling down with them; a few weeks ago i was in hysterical tears thinking i would have to re-home rivriv, but they are doing Ok now!
i would recommend you using the adaptil (D.A.P) defuser or spray when you introduce them though- i think that is also assisting poppet and rivers progress.
i suppose it just depends on whether you are unlucky enough to end up with two dominants or not- so pick your puppy carefully!

I have 2 female dogs and 2 male dogs. Gypsy (yorkie) is called the Queen and referee. She keeps the others in line and she is the oldest next is Puff. She is the shy one and usually gives up rather than wrestle unless it is over her daddy. Next is Seymour our pom. He is the instigator and is usually into mischief. Then is Harley (lh chi) who winds up with the toys most of the time. he and Sey really like to wrestle with each other. They all get a long great. It alls depends on the different personalities.

Default females

I have 5 females and a male.A few years back when Julie first arrived, I had a problem with the girls picking on her. Even had an attack that was real bad. After talking to many specialists and Doctors and prozac for Rosie, all is well. I do not think it had anything to do with them being females. That was the only time I had any problems at all. Good Luck on your search for your new baby,

Bitches.
Sorry I'm awful I know I prefer my boys and mixed packs girls are moody

Princess is the only girl we can handle here we had two it was awful! Princess was a pup and Peanut was the queen bee she taught Princess every naughty trick in the book and they terrorized my poor boys.

Peanut went to her original owner (Peanut was Derik's ex-wife's dog it was a weird arrangement thing we took her when she was abandoned & neglected, trained her a bit and got reconnected with the couple that had originally fostered her and they desperately wanted her-sad to say my heart was not broken to see her go-they are also rescue fosters so wonderful forever home for her...)

That was my experience but not everyone has super dominant females as you can see from the posts above, personally I'll stick to my boys.

We have a new female puppy, Abby. I choose the most peaceful easygoing pup out of a 4 girl litter. She was not the cutest but personality was more important for her to get along with our alpha, picky 2 1/2 yr. Ziva. It has been 8 weeks and Ziva is actually getting more patient and kind every day! It has been wonderful for her. ( altho a lot of people recommended a boy -we just did not want one...)

I understand what you mean. I have nothing against boys but I just love little girls . I don't care if they are sweet or sassy. Girl dogs just fit my personality and my family better.

I have two girls also. We adopted Tia when Ally was apprx 18 months old. Just like skin children, we made sure we gave each the attention they needed. Tia was supposed to be small like Ally so no one would get hurt, but she grew to twice Ally's size. Ally is 3.2 lbs and Tia is 6.5 lbs. Tia did occasionally have food dominance issues, but soon got over it. She wants to be first at everything and will sometimes hurt Ally trying to get off the couch, run to the door, etc. Ally did accidentally get pushed off the couch and went into shock, but fully recovered. They love each other to death and play very well together. They could not be left alone without the other. They have never had a fight, other than playing. My only concern is the size difference, so I have to watch so Tia doesn't smash her BIG sister! lol
