Troy is 4.5 pounds. I get the teacup question more often than not. It's gets annoying and I say the yorkie standard is between 4-7 pounds He's just on the low end.

Funny I should see this. Two weeks ago at the vets office. My girlfirend and I watched this woman walk in with a dog that looked just like a yorkie but it was big. So , being the nosey person that I am I walked over to her and asked her, what breed is your dog. She said full blooded Yorkie. I said I have never seen one that big, she said neither did I till I got him. He weighed 22 pounds and he was beautiful. Looked just like all our little fur butts. Just wanted to share this.

Although I would be tempted, "What!? She's obviously a dog. How could you confuse the two?"

It is so true the owners of the smaller ones get " Is it a teacup and the owners of the bigger ones get " are you sure he/she is a yorkie so no matter what your gonna get unwanted comments

I've stopped trying to educate. I have 3 yorkies, my two girls are about 6.5 lbs each and Ricky is 2.5 to 3 lbs. People often say I have 2 toy yorkies and a teacup. I used to try and correct them, but to tell the truth, I much prefer to enjoy my time talking about my gang and engaged in really nice conversation. I'm really not offended by the word "teacup", "teapot", Coffee mug...or anything else. NOW !! don't let me hear you say any of my dogs look like a little RAT !!! (which has happened) because now I am offended and now you WILL get a response.

I know that you all know this but, teacup Yorkies are not a separate breed. Big yorkies are not non-yorkies. Yes the standard is 7lb to about 5(agree w/ Rachel) but, due to genetic variation some dogs tend to be larger or smaller. Mine is 13.5 lbs. He isn't breed standard, but he is a good family pet, a Yorkie, and my baby!

I get the same thing with Sadie. Everyone wants to know why Sadie is 3 lbs and her litter mate Jackie is 11 lbs. They say how is that possible? I say it is called a runt of the litter. Then they understand. Sadie is tiny but a bull dog. She keeps this place hopping. This is a picture of Sadie sitting and watching Her sister Jackie hiding from her. In her new PJs.

Lola looks pretty in her new clip.

I was at the vet with Macy Monday and a woman with another Yorkie asked me what kind of dog Macy was.
I told her a Yorkie and she said "Really....your dog doesn't look anything like my dog" I was so shocked I didn't know what to say. When we got to the car Macy looked at me like......I know I'm a Yorkie but what was that other dog?

LOL I get the same questions. Cailee is 4-1/2 mo old and 3-1/2 lbs and Cody, almost 2 is 13-1/2 lb. I'm asked it he is the daddy or "is she a teacup".

Your babies are adorable! And isn't it funny that the smallest ones are usually the bossiest?

Next time someone asks how your dogs could be littermates, ask them if everyone in their family is the same height and weight.
