Is it a Teacup? Lola is 4 months old today! So to celebrate we went on a little trip to Petco and she got a new bully stick, some cute hair clips and a new toy! Well, they were doing the vaccinations and there were a lot of people and dogs! Well I think at least 20 times I got the..."Is it a teacup?" Question...at first I was polite and would respond "Actually no shes just a puppy, and at 3 lbs she is a good size for her breed" And would go on to explain her parents were 6 and 7 lbs and there is no such thing as a teacup...blah blah blah....But how many times in one hour can you answer the same question and not start getting rude! I feel bad now but jeez at the time it was really getting old!! Even the cashier! Who has met Lola before! By that time my answer was a curt "No shes just a puppy" and ran out of there as fast as possible! The only consolation was that she was the cutest puppy in there (but I might be biased!) and she got as many compliments on her cuteness and her friendliness as the dreaded "T" question! Now we are at home and she is happily in my lap chewing her bully stick and all is right again in my world!:D |
Lol... I gave up a long time ago on the explanation... I just say, no they are yorkies! |
2 Attachment(s) Here are two pics I just took about 5 minutes ago! She is about to go get a bath but I couldn't resist trying out her new little clip! |
Well everytime I take Keno into the pet store my questions are always, what type of dog is that? He is a 12.8 yorkie who is tall and skinny. I think he looks like a yorkie just a real big one. Oh well I just say he is a dog now, and let it go. Who really cares what some stranger thinks. To bad that breeders are not more honest with what size dogs they breed. Mine is akc and I saw both parents. Sire, 5lbs. Bitch 6 lbs. but some where back in the line there had to be a large yorkie mixed in. |
What a cutie! Just wait till she is older... People will then ask you why she is so big! ( Try explaining that 7 lbs is a good size). Annoying, but expected! |
It is terrible peoples obsession with tiny dogs it really is. |

Just precious! I'll bet you are totally smitten with that little darling. I would do anything she told me to do! It's probably pretty hard to take her anywhere without being stopped a lot for people to look and smile. So cute! |
Lola is beautiful. People often ask me if mine are puppies/ full grown/or teacups. I used to try to educate Non-Yorkie people. But now I just answer politely, 'Yorkies Only come in Toy Size, you know under 20 pounds.' They always smile back and nod or say sure, like they knew that already. (I risk being wrong here but, I think most people will Never see a Yorkie over 20 pounds. If they do it is still classified as a toy dog) |
I think I would just say, "Teacup??? No. She is a dog. A Yorkie actually." Then if the continue the conversation explain there is not such thing as a teacup. |
OMG, that stuff is soooo annoying. When my friend Lauren and I take the pups out (she has Bandit and Nala who are 4-6lbs) and Jackson (16lbs), no joke... we had like at least 10 people ask us if Jackson is the daddy dog and if they are his puppies, LOL!! We would just laugh, didn't even really explain when the teacup question gets asked, just "no, they are standard, and he is a monster Yorkie!" |
I got that question today as well, and I literally had to shut my mouth, grind my teeth, and I answered like you did, "No, he's standard size." Gets old very quickly. Happy birthday to your munchkin though! She is adorable, especially with her hair pulled back! |

I feel you!!! I get asked the same thing every single time we go out! It does get a bit frustrating! And I LOVE the new clips! Katie Scarlett has the same ones! :) Lola is adorable! |
I always take Teresa's approach, in fact, I frequently evade the question now a days, and tell someone that they only sorta look like Yorkies. The way Dog are being stolen so often, I'm reluctant to brag, in the best interest of holding on to mine. :( |
