The Biting has got to STOP! What do you recommend that I do with a 12 week old female who is FEARLESS and will not stop BITING? She chews and bites non-stop... except for when she's sleeping. If a hand, foot or limb even goes near her, she somehow finds a way to get limbs and digits into her mouth. It's amazing ... One time she jumped up and bit my lip and actually drew blood with those damn little needles! It caught me by surprise and I actually hit her in a quick retaliation. She knew she did wrong and didn't bite again until the next day, of course.. I don't know what else to do. I've resorted to thumping her on the nose, but she seems to like it because it's play to her. I told you she's fearless... I have given her things to chew on, given her things to chew on while she's biting and tried to make my hands foul with hot sauce. She doesn't care and it seems to be worstening. She's a good dog and fun to watch, but I'm not sure what else to try - short of getting a muzzle. I'm a bachelor and the little sh*t is ruling my house already. NO WOMAN HAS EVER TAKEN OVER SO QUICKLY! Help!

I have good news / bad news from my experience. The good news is they gradually stop chewing on you. My puppy Tini would chew on me like crazy from the time she was about 12 weeks until about the time she was 16 weeks. I did have her spayed, not sure if that helped, but also her puppy teeth are finally out. I think that is most of it. Why they like to chew on people instead of all the great toys and chews I don't know. When she would really make me crazy with it I would either put her in her play pen or give her a greenie. For some reason she cannot resist those. Or on special occasions, dog chicken jerky. Dingo brand makes some and she cannot resist even to chew a finger...... The good news is, it really will stop over time. Hang in there....you will make it through! Joanne

I read somewhere that when you are being bitten by a dog (meaning attacked) if you have your hand in their mouth, push your hand toward the back of the throat. Kinda like giving a pill to a dog, you have to push it over the hump in the back of the throat. The dog will gag a little and spit out the pill right? So when my dog was biting me I would gently push my finger to the back of his throat and he would gag enough to stop biting and didn't want to again. I do not mean ram your whole hand down the pup's throat, I just mean that if you were to have your finger in his mouth, the end of your finger and the base of your finger would catch on the corners of his mouth. This is not considered cruel or inhumane. Vets push their pills down dog's throats everyday to administer pills. This stopped my dogs from biting. Yorkease

This is a simple (almost too easy) solution - I never believed it would work, but it did for us. Cry out like another puppy, or cry ouch. Whimsey would stop everytime. The nips would turn into kisses.

The biting has got to stop At 12 weeks they are young enough to begin training. I said young because the younger the better. I suggest you buy a training book or get a trainer. I was always told not to play with your hands or they do not distinguish between toys and you. I did not listen but did not have your problem. Your yorkie is also teething. I can tell you the behavior that is exhibited at this age usually does not remain for life. My yorkies tore things, shredded paper, ruined a shoe or two, etc. This behavior does not happen now. Through training and maturing they outgrew the destruction phase. But if your yorkie is biting you often begin by saying your yorkies name and NO. When she stops biting use the reward system. I use the reward system for everything but when they do something wrong and hear my voice that is enough to send 3 yorkies hiding for cover. You need to establish rules in your household and one should be you do not bite the hand that feeds you. Good luck and be strong.
