| Callie update Wow it has been a long day. Callie went to the Orthopedic Surgeon today for a consultation. The right leg is the main concern right now it is a grade 3 and he thinks there might be partial ACL deficiency. The left leg is a grade 2-3 and he thinks there may be ACL problems in that one with in 1-2 years but only wants to do one knee at a time. He made me walk her in the parking lot to watch her walk and do tight circles as well and said she is taking very small steps with her right leg and bigger steps with her left. He even got out a model knee and showed us what the problem is and how he plans to fix it. He did not recommend waiting until January like I was hoping to do because of the holidays and we have scheduled her surgery for November 16th. She will have to spend the night and they have at least one vet tech and one vet on staff at night at all times. They are going to put a note on her records and with her that when taken on a leash she must have her harness on. I know I will not be sleeping that night. He also said she had a positive sit test (she has always sat strange). 8 weeks of no Sammy after the surgery is gonna be hard for her but its whats best. The high end of the estimate was $2,600 and my grandpa will be paying for it but I will be making payments to him until I have paid for half of it which we estimated will take me about a year but it makes me feel better then having my grandpa pay for the whole thing which he would. My grandpa has never been a dog animal person but Callie has trained him well in her four years and so owns him he gives up his chair for her and covers her up when she is sleeping and he dearly loves her and even talks to her in a baby voice which is so funny to us and when we got home and we talked to him about it he said in a baby voice to Callie you are part of this family and we will take care of you and make sure you get what you need yes we will. I actually almost cried it was so sweet. I have been pricing the things I will need like a playpen and such and am going to start getting that stuff. They also are going to make a note about her hypoglycemic issues and assured me she will be checked on a lot. They want me to either bring her back to get blood work within two weeks of the surgery or have my vet do it. Callie always sleeps in something and gets cold pretty easy do you think they will let me leave a shirt for her? Just wanted to update everyone and I am so sorry I didnt do it right when I got back but it has been a crazy week. I got three fillings on my teeth on friday and apparently one was to big and to close to the nerve so I found a new dentist when I was having pain all weekend and monday he informed me I need a root canal so Tuesday I had that done and still bathed Callie for the orthopedic surgeon and then today she went to her appointment and after the appointment we found out my grandma locked her keys in her car so we told the nice receptionist and she called animal control and actually a nice police officer came and got there first before the animal control officer got there and he finally got it unlocked and we were on our way home where Callie threw up right at the last stop sign in our neighborhood about 4 houses from our house so I took a much need nap as did Callie when we got home. I know this post is long but I didn't want to leave anything out.

| I am so glad your GP will help with the cost. You had a very long, busy day and I am glad you have answers and a treatment plan. We will keep praying for Callie and you. Be sure to remind us the day or two before her surgery. Big hugs from The Just Right Yorkie Gang.

| Is the CCL torn? Good thing you went to the specialist. Sounds like surgery needs to be done quickly. If she is a jumper, don't forget a lid for her playpen (or one of the pet kinds with the top already connected). My girl likes to jump out of her pen... Good quality exercie, limits on jumping, and keeping her lean post surgery should help her legs stay strong.

| I'm so sorry to hear she will need surgery. But it sounds like it's for the best. So glad you took her in, she is lucky to have you as her mommy. I know how terrible it is to leave them overnight. I think I maybe slept like 4 hours when Jackson was in the hospital overnight. I just kept thinking something would go wrong, or he'd be scared and escape, or they'd walk him on his collar (which was loose so he'd slip out of). I called the vet like two hours after I left and told them about the thing with the collar, LOL. I was sooo paranoid. But all was well and fine and he came home and was super happy to see me. Good luck during recovery, I know that will be hard too.

| Poor Callie....I do hope it all turns out ok. Having a baby at the vet overnight as we speak is so very scary!! I will keep her in my prayers!! Luckily for me, all 3 of my babies are insured, so all I'm Out is my 200 dollar deductible!!! ..... And alot of worry!!!
