| I need help! Please somebody help me figure out what happened and if it's possible to fix. I dropped off my yorkie to get bathed and groomed and when I came back to pick him up, the groomer had completely shaved him. He was the standard color: black & brown and now he is completely grey. It's been 3 months and he is still all grey and his fur has only grown out to about an inch. |

| I'm confused... Are you asking for ideas to help his fur grow faster? Or are you asking if there's anything you can do to change it back to black and tan?

| how old is he? and the color change is normal... ALMOST all yorkies change colors (but you can find black and tan adult yorkies)!!! and he most likley wont change back to his puppy color.. but yorkies coats can change up to three years of age.

| Looks like he is about 7 months, so this is very normal. This happened to my sister-in-law with her first Yorkie. She dropped him off for his first grooming appointment and when she picked him up, he looked so different she didn't think he was her dog! All Yorkie puppies are born black and tan, but as they mature, the black is supposed to turn to blue and the tan generally lightens to hopefully a rich golden tan. If you search colors on here, you'll find lots of threads about this and I'm positive there's a post about coloring in the library section. I see from your profile that you have two Yorkie pups- we would love to see pictures!

| I guess I am asking if his original coloring will ever come back. He has absolutely no black or tan in him at all. He is completely grey. I will post a picture of Teddy. |

| Will Teddy's hair color ever come back? He looks NOTHING like my other yorkie who was IDENTICAL but they didnt shave him. According to the groomer, they were able to get all the tangles out of Buddy but not Teddy and that is why Teddy was shaved. But now they look nothing alike and Teddy is just a complely dull grey color. No other color except on the tips of his ears and face where they did not shave. |

| How and where do I go to post pictures? You'll be able to tell how different he looks if I can find out where to post pics. Thanks so much! |

| It sounds like he had a puppy hair and they shaved his puppy hair off and if that is the case the puppy hair wont grow back.

| No it most likely will not come back. Its not the groomers fault, it would have eventually grown out to the new color anyway. Their colors can change soooo much. Its just you usually dont notice till its cut off. Cutting hair doesnt change its color. Many people dont notice how light the roots are, and then when they get their hair cut off short thats all thats left, so they look like a new dog. So many people think because the end of their hair is dark thats what it should still be. I have had so many people think it was cause the groomer cut it off that it changed, but that is not the case. |

| Kayla has always stayed the black and tan even if I cut her back down close. Dudley is reg. as blue and gold. He is now changing to the silvery look on his back where he was all black when we got him. What does it say on her papers that the color is suppose to be? Personally I love the silver look on their backs. Just be patient and it will grow back. I know how you feel. Thats why I don't take mine to a groomer. Who knows, maybe it will come back in black. Its hard to tell sometimes. Kayla is just 4 and she is graying around her mouth. I told her the other day she looks like a little ole' lady. lol!!!! Put pictures on of your baby if you can. Would love to see him. |

| Rosie really really changed hair color from when she was a puppy. She has lots of the silver now. But I LOVE it! Honestly, I would be more upset that the groomer didn't call me before shaving my pup. But that is just me. Anyway here is pictures of Rosie with her puppy coloring and what she looks like now. I think you will see there was a huge change in her. The first picture is when we first got her. The second is after her first grooming. The 3rd and 4th pictures are what she looks like now.

| Sounds like this is his adult coat. As your puppy grows he will break color. My Mentor has always said you never know what color you will be getting until they are over one year of age, some break color even older. |

| My Bella's coat is already changing colors. the top of her head is almost totally white and her roots are turning a greyish color. She is only 4mon. I have heard that their coats can change so many times, but I don't think it will change back to puppy fur.
