| Leaving your puppy for a few days I was wondering if anyone had experienced this before? I am off for a business trip tomorrow and I thought Teddy (7 months old) was to be at home with my husband, but then he just found out he's got to fly out on Wednesday too. And we don't have anyone to babysit him at home, so we'd probably have to leave him at petcare (they do allow you to leave your pups there). I am a bit worried about this, since he'd never have to stay there before. He was always with us, but it's such a short notice. My husband will be gone from Wednesday to Saturday, so Teddy'd probably stay at petcare from Tuesday night till Saturday. If you'd experienced something like this before, please please let me know what I can do to make his stay more enjoyable??? |

| Has he had a bordatella vaccine to keep him from getting kennel cough because that is common for dogs to pass around. Other than that im sure it will be fine

| He's had full list of vaccines, but I will double check if bordatella is on the list. Thank you for your advice. |

| Now I dont know if its the same now but it used to be that it needed to be given every 6 months to be effective. It might be good to let your vet know your going to board him. The only time I did I let my vet know and he gave me some tips. I cant remember if he gave them another bordatella shot

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | When we have to leave Annie, I talk to my Vet and there are a couple Vet. Techs that take care of puppies. So Annie goes home with a Vet Tech. I know she is in good hands and gets individualized care.

| Oh that'd be nice. Our vet just had a baby, so I guess it's not really working out this way. My husband wants to leave Teddy with his mother ̣(my mother in law), but I don't really like the idea. She works full time and is not really fond of dogs, so I've decided to drop him at a petcare. They'd groomed him before and they love dogs and have basic veterinary knowledge. Also I think they won't mind me call every few hours to check on him |

They told me they'd give him food as the cost of stay includes food (the same we use), but I'll bring his bowls. I am already missing him! :-(

YT 1000 Club Member | Hi OP and I understand your dilema in having to leave your baby in "strange" surroundings while you're on a business trip. Do you know if the petcare place has webcams? That would give you peace of mind if you are able to remotely view what your baby is doing. We have Best Friends Pet Care (I've not had to board Romeo) in our area and they were highly recommended and are equipped with webcams that pet parents can view anytime.

| He should be fine. You can always ask your vet or others for references on where they would recommend. You got some great advice. |

| You might be surprised at your options. I take Teddy to doggie daycare that has two trainers working there full-time...and one of the trainers boards dogs in her house. She only boards small dogs because she has a small dog and she's a certified trainer AND Teddy sees her on a regular basis so I feel comfortable leaving him there...you might consider looking for trainers in your area/daycare people that might do it.

The stinky (!!!) t-shirt's a good idea - and I was going to ask about webcams too? If not, whether a member of your family or a friend might be able to have a little pop-in, just to check how he's doing? I'm sure everything will turn out just fine for you, but I do know how you feel! Sally + Harry x
