| Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Well as of right now, I don't plan to. My husband works away from home alot and even though we live in a very safe area...you just never know. But if I had to, I'd get some pepper spray too. But I think if the hubby was home and could walk with me, I wouldn't have any problem walking around our neighborhood after dark, especially in the summer to avoid the heat. We have a sidewalk and each house has one of those old fashioned light posts in front of it. So a very well lit area. I think I would. I definitely wouldn't walk in a park or walking trail that goes through a wooded area at night...I'm afraid of those enough during the day. LOL.

| I dont walk my babies at night. Heck, im scared to take them potty at night. I do it because I have to. Im trying to get DH to put another light outside....we just moved to a new house and I have seen the same 3 teens walking up and down my street. Its odd because my brother-in-law lives next door and there are older people and families everywhere else. I can tell they are up to something because they are very suspicious. They always walk together, stop in every persons driveway, and just stare at the houses. so after that long and lengthy story, thats why I cant go on walks at night......but the pepper spray is a good idea....hmmmmm

| Occasionally when Molly needs to go poop. She doesn't like to poo on her pad. I only take her in the yard. We have a huge dusk to dawn light the brightens the back yard pretty well. I still take a flashlight along. Some weekend mornings we are out walking just before it gets light. We live in a nice subdivision were there is little traffic. We are not the only ones walking that early. I see a couple people every time we walk. Our dogs must be on the same schedule! |

| Well, it would be difficult to avoid as Dori is an "outside pottier." In the NW, it remains dark until 8 AM or so and gets dark at 4 PM. For the last potty of the evening (and an occasional 3 AM quickie), we are vigilant about critters. We have coyotes, raccoons, etc. Dori sees very well in the dark. Me, not so much!

| I know this is an older post but I was just poking around and saw this. My nana asked me what is the last time I take Lucky out for the night and I said around 1am-2am. Well she almost died! She literally begged me not to take him out past dark. But it gets dark so so early! I like in a relatively good area, low crime. But she still worries. She begged me to get pepper spray, so I actually just ordered some for my keys. Any advice on how to change my baby's schedule. We were doing so well at these times. And now to change him, he will be all confused!

| We have like taking an after dinner walk, during the summer telling the kids we could stay out at the neighborhood park or the school until dark. Honestly no though nothing regular I suppose if I worked during the day and didn't have children I totally would. Although it's a totally safe subdivision. Not sure I would in certain places, areas-I'd be scared of the dark. You can't see what's coming as easily or in the tragic event your dog got off leash & took off.

| I barely walk from the front door to my car 10 feet away in the dark! LOL I am a super chicken and trust no one and nothing! ![]() But I DO walk Rosie after dark...One day a year or so, on Halloween while in the very crowded AFB and maybe occasionally if we have gone to the high street and haven't left before dark.

| I live in an apartment and do take Troy out at 8pm. It's approaching Winter so it's dark out. When I let him out in the morning it's still dark out also. I do get a little nervous as I'm a small woman alone but I've got forms of "protection" that sit in my pocket as a precaution.

| I have a new puppy so it's imperative for me to take him out in the middle of the night, last night he went at midnight, 3AM, and 6AM (all were dark) but he doesn't go for a walk that late.

| I take Delilah for walks at night quite often... especially in the summer. I live in GA and it gets pretty darn hot! I take a small flashlight with me. It's the kind that you can get at Lowe's that flashes. I would never take my dog for a walk if I lived in an overpopulated city or in a bad part of town. I live in the country and only have a few houses around... so I'm not too worried about my safety.

Are scheduling feeding during the day to prevent so many night walks? Or is it for another reason?

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Not this time of year, far too many wild animals. We even made the national news channels recently because of bears wandering around the local neighborhoods.
