Gidget was 2 in May. Her coat is still changing, so I think your little one's coat will be changing and developing for a while yet.

Pixie had the tiniest bit of white on her chest when I got her, but it seems to have disappeared.
I'm fairly certain at going on 6 months, she's going to be a silk coat, and between 3-5 months her coat was rather thin and sparse. It still is for that matter, especially around her rump. This is where she has the greatest amount of baby coat lost.
On her back, there is clearly a line from baby coat to adult coat. The new fur is coming in silver and has a metallic sheen to it and is flatter. the baby coat is not only dull black, but poofy.
She always looks a bit disheveled, because of the poofy baby coat scraggling everywhere, and the sleeker adult coat hiding underneath.

Great! it sounds like you just described My baby!!! the thin hair, color, and everything else you said. But i read on here that when a yorkie has thin sparse hair at the age of 3-4 months (i think) that it is acting like a human (the hair) starting out with a small amount and as an adult they should be able to grow a thick long coat... But i don't think i wrote that exactly how it was originally written, and i know you proabably already knew that... with all of your experience and all... but im just trying to make myself believe that my baby will be able to grow a long coat (it grows so slowly)

Hmm interesting. Rhia has a white star, but her fur takes forever to grow long. It is super silky and a light blond and gray though!

Yea i don't think the white star has anything to do with the rate the hair grows but instead it has to do with the amount of hair grown.. because my baby has the white star... has silky fur (at 5 months), very thin, he's turning silver and tan, and his hair couldn't gro any slower!!

Ahi has thin/sparse hair too. She has the white star. And her hair seems to grow fast. She is almost 23 weeks and her hair on the sides are only about an inch or inch and a half from the ground but it looks all shaggy and uneven. she has never had a cut yet. I've only trimmed around her butt. She has never been really "fluffy" like some of the pups I see on YT and her hair on her back parts down the middle like how older Yorkies do.

Oh yeah and she doesn't get tangled. Only under her pits once in a while.

Yea Max has the part too, and his fur hangs and is about an inch and a half from the ground... but I thought hus fur ws growing slowly... maybe its growing fast... but max is a little shorty. All of these babies with the white stars have a lot in common.
