Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Thanks everyone. I knew you guys would understand my frustration. Before Bentley, I only had Charlie. He's a dachshund/beagle mix and he only gets the, "aww..he's so cute" and the occasional, "what is he? He's so pretty!" So I agree, it must be all purebreds. I know she doesn't know what that lady what saying but I can't help but feel like she felt how rude she was. I never worry about Bentley. He's so confident and just prances off when anyone says anything. But Dixie is a rescue and I'm trying to build that confidence. That sounds crazy. Haha! |

| ![]() Usually when someone says something rude or mean it's because of their own insecurites. I would have felt the same as you but just try (harder said than done) to not feed into their negative comments, rise above ![]() ![]() |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | ![]() That was so rude! I hate it when people do that! Why oh why can't people out in public just mind their own business sometimes? I hate when people try to lecture me or tell me what they think BEFORE I even ask their opinion when I'm out in public. That is really one of my pet peeves. But I'm a quiet person. I would never do anything but comment on how cute a dog is out in public. I would never pass judgement and I hope people won't do this to me once we get our baby. I can already tell you even though I don't mean it to be ugly, I will be quite defensive if they say rude things to me or my baby. I think living in PA has done that to me. Before I moved up here from the south I was so quiet and everyone around me in my life down there was always so nice and friendly with what they had to say. Not up here. I mean, I have met some wonderful people in PA and we love it here. But I have also met my share of bad people. I've had so many people rudely say to me 'Where are you from? That accent is thick and why on Earth did you move up here?' I've even had people tell me I needed to go back to where I came from! Ahh! I was shocked! So if anyone says anything demeaning towards my dog, they better watch out because I will plainly tell them flat out that I love her no matter what size she is and I think she is beautiful. I would be tempted to add something like that if I needed their opinion, I'd ask for it. But I won't do that. I have been raised with better manners than that. But still the main point is...why do people have to do that in public? It really frustrates me! Ok, down off my soapbox. LOL

| ![]() My yorkie is only 5 lbs, and very tiny to me, but I don't care who I come across, they always have one smaller than mine ("oh, mine is much smaller than yours...yours must be one of the bigger ones") like the tiny ones are more special or something or some kind of status symbol. I get tired of it, but just smile and go on, since I know they don't know what they're talking about.
